is it worth it.... if you have power, yes. if your going to add power, yes. every project takes time. I am going to be swapping in a c56 into my aw11 and i dont EXPECT it to be too hard, sometimes you struggle with little things. the only problems i can tell you to worry about are A) E51 sits a little different and as such has different mounts so you will need them. B) if the transmission you have found is loose (not in a car) you have no way of knowing if it has the famous 5th gear popout problem which is common on mr2's. C) some of the plumbing/plumbing brackets may be different as the e51 was for GZE's. I am unsure of this but if it is an issue you can solve it by taking them off of the c50.
Another answer or option might be to take the LSD and put it into your current tranny. I have yet to look into this but I believe it will work. The plus is you know your current tranny is good, the bad is that it would actually be more work than simply swapping them out.

I think thats it..... anyone else wanna add to that?

    ok koolz
right now my car is stock as a rock and yes the gearbox is loose, i only like this gearbox because of the lsd.

i also wanted to know about the gear ratios
what is the difference between mine (C-52) and the E-51
would it make my car slower? and if yes by how much

I think this is what you needed

    NA:
    Transmission: 5-speed manual
    Gear Ratios:
    5th (0.82):1
    4th (0.97):1
    3rd (1.31):1
    2nd (1.90):1
    1st (3.70):1
    Final Drive Ratio: 4.13:1

    GZE:
    Transmission: 5-speed manual
    Gear Ratios:
    5th: 0.73:1
    4th: 0.92:1
    3rd: 1.26:1
    2nd: 1.91:1
    1st: 3.32:1
    Final Drive Ratio: 4.29:1

you dont want to do this.

go pick up the e51 and you wil lwork out why very quickly.. they are about twice the weight of the C series boxes.

the added driveline weight (despite its unbreakability) is the worst thing about the SC aw11's.. i speak from experience. trust me.

the diffs are not interchangable. if your that keen for a limo in the na. TRD still make and list them as avaliable and for pretty fair money too.

e51 heavier than c52.... holy smokes must be something. i have never lifted one personally but i have lifted the c52 and thought it to be quite heavy, the c56 "feels" lighter but i have not weighed it. sorry, i was under the impression that you could swap the diffs...... says you can somewhere on the net but i guess you cant believe everything you read.

no the diffs are physically very different sizes... 6.5" -v- 7.5 or 8" iirc.... done quote me on those sizes.. but they certainly are not interchangabale.

no no the c52 is light as.. the e51 would be weighing probaly say 80% more again. dont quote me on exact numbers but certainly VERY heavy.. plus the driveshafts for the e51 also weight a tonne... totoally unsuited to the na.

look forward to seeing install pics etc on the c56 swap, point out if any mounts were different etc. i wouldnt mind one in the vermin. maybe.

and as toof said, much more weight involved between a c52 and e51. much more. IMO the c52 would be more suited to the 4agte engine in a aw11 aswell.

now i'm curious....... how much power can the c56 handle? if its going to break on me i might be in the market for an e51. i am about to dedicate the rest of the year into building a MONSTER 4A.

I was asking around on various forums about anyones experience with the c56 and about its drivability but never did get an answer from anyone....

if you want pics maybe i should take some for ya eh.... all thats done so far is just cleaning and painting..... i've stripped both tranny's down(i have an extra c52) and got most everything sorted out, just have not drilled for selector yet.(yes im kinda nervous about it) i have also been delaying it as i am looking for an lsd to put in, easier now than having to take it out again.
