I got back in touch with another Toyota dealer and they wouldn't even help without the VIN off the orignal car that the motor was from.

I am trying sleeka spares in adelaide they were the guys that rebuilt the motor, hopefully they have contacts.

    NAJJE,

Your looking for a part for an import only engine thats over 20 years old. Optimistic is na understatement. Get your hands on a good second hand one and be thankful you found one at all.

I know you right, I am thankfull the entire motor had parts available when it was rebuilt, I just thought this would be more available then the other parts.

It sounds like Toyota can source these parts, I just need a VIN for a toyota carina import or something else that had the same Thermostat housing possibly a TA22 GT with a 2T-G in it

    Not being optimistic or anything

    Callum,

Thanks very much for the info. I contacted Toyota and supplied a TA63 VIN which helped them look for the part.

They no longer stock the Base of the thermostat, only the top which costs a whopping $103.35!!!!

I have now spoken with David from sleeka spares who will try find either a new 3T-GTE or 2-TG housing.

Once again thanks for your help

    and I.D.B Auto

dont know if these are still relevant addresses, but, I found these when i was reading through past mags "Street 4s" edition No3. the mag has Jeff Egans 74 celica with a rally 2T motor and Michael Crocketts 66 corona with an 18R-G

Thumbs up Re: 3T-GTE Thermostat Housing

From experiance, I spoke to Ian at IDB a couple of weeks ago. He is a top fella and extremely helpful. Don't know where Sean Molony has gone these days though. I am pretty sure Sean worked at IDB in the nineties. And also a toyota twin cam guru.

definitely worth ringing both the numbers though!

From what I can remember IDB was still going to be around but I think Sean was giving it away. That was a few years ago when I was ordering some bearings from Sean. I could be wrong, its happened in the past.

    Sean has retired, soob.

IDB is prob first place you should look. If they dont have one maybe have leads to whom would have couple lying around although I would think that is quite rare these days.

For info Sean was an engine builder for Maclaren F1 team in late 70's when turbos were the go. He leased an engine building workshop inside IDB after moving to Aus. He specialised in the Toyota twin cam/turbo technology.
