    Default RA23 Bosskit/horn problem

I have a space of about 4mm between the horn pin thingy and the ring on the boss kit! at first I thought it was the incorrect boss kit as I assumed it wasn't sliding on the steering shaft far enough as the shaft tapers bigger thus not touching the horn pin thingy. SO I brought another boss kit thinking that it will fix my problem It didn't! Is it possible that the steering shaft has moved out causing the gap between the horn pin thingy and the ring on the boss kit or the outer case that holds the keybarrel and wipers etc has moved back? anyone had any problems like this? Please help

I don't really get what you are saying but my dilemma was the horn not working and the indicator stalk not clicking in on my ta22. Apparently the autotechnica boss kit is shizen and needs a modification to get it working. I showed it to my local mechanic and he whipped up a little custom fitting from my previous wheel that now allows everything to work although i still have about a 4mm gap like you....

Sorry i can't be of anymore help.

had the same thing when i bought my car. already had a boss and no contact.

i think its just a case of a worn pin as it is metal on metal with a lil grease.

to fix we dropped a blob of solder onto the pin head and once hardened filed it down a lil.

2 yrs on and still working too.

Thanks for the replies, my indictor stalk cancel works ok, any idea how thick the pin thing is suppose to be? Mine is about 1mm, I think I might do what you said and drop some solder onto the pin and file it down. I might also diegrind a little bit more of a taper on the boss kit to allow it to slide onto the shaft that little bit more.

I've got the same problem now. The autotchnica has a gap and the blinker stalk does not engage, where the old formula boss is perfect.
I will check to see if the boss kit holes are the same but car not accessable till next week.
has any body found out why this is a problem with the auto kits?

hey, i had this problem with the 22, There are 2 types of boss kits, one has 2 holes for you to slide the 2 indicator cancellor pins in, and the other has 2 screw holes for you to screw the indicator cancellor circular unit on. You will find they will have a gap between the boss kit and the rest of the steering column. Another factor to look at is how the cancellor works, the cancellor will cancel your left or your right side indicator better than the other because the holes most of the time dont line up semetrically.

I found that the autotechnica boss kit worked ok with the indicator cancel setup, I just had to align the 2 pins to slide into the holes on the boss kit! I ended up soldering about 3mm on top of the horn pin and sanded/cleaned up the edge of the boss kit and steering shaft to allow it to slide on a lttle bit more. Works like a treat!
