good idea chris however its pretty annoying when people start comparing graphs and then the whinging starts because someone made more power with less mods and its just cause it was a different dyno...
I'm not sure where they will be Whinging as the threads/section will be made so you can start a new thread but no-one can reply in that thread. It will be done like that to make sure that they all don't just turn to useless chatter. ( opr start Arguements)

Most people realise that dynos are just tuning tools and can be fudged a bit but it still gives a decent indication and I personally look more at the shape of the curve with different setups rather than outright power.

So the area will be able to post threads but not replies but you can still edit your own post? That way you can keep track of your progress with different mods and makes it easy to compare for others.

So we can start a whole new sub-section for dyno printouts (which seems a bit silly to me, all dynos will give different readings on different days etc, thus we have dyno days) but we can't start a new sub-section to get the dedicated threads, which quite a significant number of people have expressed their dislike for, out of the way?

Here's the thing Joel. People complain about the dedicated threads because they are at the top of the page and have a heap of posts in them right? But the reason why they are at the top of the page and have a lot of posts in them is because a lot of people like them and use them more than the other threads there.

This isn't a case of doing something because some people don't like to scroll, it's a case of trying to make a valuable resource where people can go to a single place to see all of the threads of a specific kind.

Of your significant number of people complaining I am sure there is a much more significant number of people using those threads. I mean there is what 150 posts in the bitching thread, but in a single dedicated thread there is 100 times that number of posts.

Would you preffer if we just had a dedicated dyno graphs thread in general?

Acually I just went to check and make sure the whole dedicated threads taking over the world situation hadn't got too out of hand and this is what I see http://users.tpg.com.au/joshaw11/forums/general.jpg less than half of the threads in the first page of thread that I see are dedicated threads. In fact only two fo the first ten threads are dedicated threads.

I reckon just one dyno graph thread for all graphs. I think it's pointless trying to break them up into sub-sections.

    just my tuppence worth.

I agree with Greg. A bit of info about the car and post a graph. Period.

That way people who want relevant info about what mods make what gains on a particular engine/car wont have to wade through 200 pages of 'WTF 911 BBQ/ well done/ how did you do that?' type answers

I also agree with that. But if people don't think that other members can keep questions to pm then a seperate thread for each person wanting to put their dyno results up is the next best thing.

It isn't a pissing contest or competition or anything like that just a section where people can get an idea on what sort of power people are making with what mods

Doesnt matter if people cant keep questions to PM or not. If the rules for the thread are clearly established in the first post no-one can complain when I delete their crap (or OT) posts. Each post should be a description of mods, car, and a dyno graph. No other posts will remain

    Chris,

I recon this is a great idea. In theory a seperate thread for each engine type should be plenty and would be awesom but the simple fact is there are more wood ducks and retards than people who do things right. As such a great resource would turn to crap in 5minutes without constant moderation which in all fairness isn't really possible.

The number of people that don't read how to register for these forums or ignore the huge text in the classifieds is mind blowing.

But Rod, what about just one thread for all engine types? If the rules are clearly stated from the get-go it should be fairly easy to moderate. Just car specs and dyno charts, no crap

Well, I'd be up for some nazi-spec moderating of said thread. If the rules are clearly stated in the first post, no-one can complain too much when their posts are deleted.
