i need a little help with the locks on my RT142 corona
some jerk tried to break into my car while it was parked at the berwick train station with a steak knife. This really pissed me off, but to make things worse it was the only lock on the car that still works. the passengers side was busted in a similar way, and the guy who owned the car before me ruined the boot lock. I had to get the RACV out to break into it so i could drive it home.
anyway, i went to the wreckers and was lucky enough to find a old corona that my keys worked in, so i got a new passenger side and drivers side locks. When i tried to fit it when i got home it turns out that my drivers side lock is different for some reason. all the coronas at the wreckers had the same locks. but for some reason mine has a different drivers side lock. The housing for the drivers side is slightly bigger, which means the hole in the door is too. The problem i have is that the only lock housing that fits in the door is the one that was already there. I've managed to get the broken lock back into working order but, but i had to take the chrome cover of the front of it to get the barrel out. Anyone know how lock smiths get the barrel out without ruining the cover? or any other ideas how to get this working? Im sure i can take it to a lock smith, but i just want to see if i can do it without spend the money

whats that number? a locksmith? i already know a good lock smith
can you just enlarge the hole in the door a little? doesn't take much effort with the correct file. Just make sure the rods inside are the same size.
Hello.
no sorry, its the other way around. The broken lock is the big one. and all the smaller locks i have that work with the correct key are smaller. so i would need to some how shrink the lock
The number is for the 10char limitOriginally Posted by DBoy

those locks come apart by pulling the front chrome off, u could always just put new interals in there to make an exact keyed lock for your key. takes about 10 mins if u have a few locks sitting around.
Looking for a new toy. If you have something 18r powered let me know.

yeah, i accually got that far with the lock thats on their at the moment. The problem i have is that i had to ruin the chrome cover to get the internals out. and there no way to put it back on. I'm thinking maybe locksmiths rip them off and put a new one on or something when they fix them since the metal is rolled over the edges
omst of the time u can roll them back on.
