    Default Building N/A 1G Motor

I have a 1G-EU and a 1G-GTE and want to make a reasonably fun motor to fit into a KE70 rolla or AE86. I have never rebuilt an engine before and so this is just as much for learning as it is fun.

    1G-EU = 125hp (93kw) 127 ft.lbf (172Nm)

All 1G engines have a 75mm bore stroke.

What I'm thinking is using the 1982 1G-EU block will allow me a little more allowance with emmisions etc than the 1989 1G-GTE block...

    1G-EU block
    1G-GTE rods and pistons
    1G-GTE head
    1G-GEU cams??
    1G-GTE intake manifold/plenum
    remove a/c and p/s

How can I raise the compression ratio?

The 1G-FE utilizes a 10.0:1 ratio which seems alot better for power making than 8.8:1...

My goal would be looking for 190-200hp (30-40hp more than a stock 1G-GEU) if anyone thinks this is possible

For starters I'm going to go with no making 100HP per litre from a naturally aspirated engine with a budget build and especially first time up to the plate is not a reasonable aim.

Secondly, go for you life. It's a great learning experience but not necessarily a cheap thing to play around with.

If you're sure the 1GG-TE head will mate up to the 1G-EU block then it sounds like a somewhat reasonable plan. I'd be looking to do the small stroker setup using the big journal crank and small journel rods to get as much capacity as you can into the thing which will also give you plenty of extra compression. In fact you'll be looking for how to get less compression I suspect.

Of course once you've done this you're going to have to be able to manage the thing and you'll want a nice set of custom extractors to get it to breath. It'll add up in a hurry.

Altezza 1G-FE gear makes 10.0:1 compression, add a piggy back ecu, porting and cams thats the best you can do, it will make 200hp but it wont be worth it.

I went in this direction, made approx 180hp at the fly, next step was cams then i decided to ditch it as 3S-GE's are such superior motors, or alternativly 2JZ-GE.

go for some massive custom NA cams, and tripple webbers,.... also if you use gte parts, your compression will be t low, will be sluggish....

this project will end up being an expensive dissapointment if you do it this way

spend a little more and start with a good base engine either a MAP sensor 1G-GE or a vvti 1G-FE

    then go from there

    or a beams 3sge motor

there was one on egay a year or so ago for under 3 grand (i think)

youll spend the same amount on rebuilding your 1gge and it wont make 200hp.

the 3sge makes 200hp out of the box

a 2tg can get 90kw easy enough, and will rev like crazy which to me means alot of fun.

May i suggest a NA nitrous setp?

    1g's love to rev

the factory rev limit is around 7000rpm for memory

edit: jeffro; a 1g-ge should be good for 120kw at the fly with only an exhaust and a air filter

my 2tg revs to 9 with stock pistons....

I like the idea if a 1g-gte cause they go rather well.
But a 1g im not sure will merit the amount of work. Unless ofcrouse a nice nitrous setup is in line

I always wanted to build an awsome N/A killer motor, I would have used the 1GGTE motor pull the pistons out and put some really high compression piston's, some custom cams (fukin exspensive for a 24 valve motor) a port polish and a aftermarket ecu, would of been fun, but like everyone's saying ther are better N/A motor option's out there and for the price you pay for all that you could of made an even better forced indution motor puttin out some pretty number's!

really depend on what tickles your fancy, lol

ive done turbo now....next thing i'll do is a killa NA or supercharged....

i know of a NA sr20de, putting alot of poorly modded DET's to shame...

someone has to build one, just for the sound it would make. big set of custom cams, headwork and 1gfe pistons swinging off 1ggeu rods and crank. 10000 rpm. would just sound so good.
    GA23(never finished-now with cracked block ) JZX83 (Tyre eater) 3sgte AE86. by now i should know better.

might require fairly frequent rebuilds though

    for the 1G-GE its 7600rpm

Dave Gianttomato knew of a fellow who went all out on a 1G-GE the end result wasnt too spectacular, they just dont have the torque, a better 2litre engine is the 3S-GE for a N/A project.

just look at Glenn's RA45 GT pumping out a bazillion kw(cant remember the real figure but its the most out of a 3S toymods has seen)

yeah that 3s is a piece of work tho, i think its now making 180rwkw....in one of the last threads i read on it, playing with dual stage inj....
