Random question but do the 18RGEU's have the dipstick on the intake side like 18RC's? Because I went to check the oil today ready for a drive tomorrow only to realise the dipsticks on the intake side...

Nope, they're on the exhaust side.

Check the engine number on the block (with some difficulty lol), if the number is stamped upside down it's an 18RG, if it's right way up it's an 18R

Well I just used a phone to take photos and see underneath the intake. It doesn't appear to have a number at all even though I cleaned it. I'll take a closer look on the weekend and actually remove the intake. Most likely is 18RC, which I originally thought. I hope it hasn't got 18RC pistons... I doubt it, It still goes hard.

Well you never know, somebody might have 're-blocked' an 18R-G into an 18RC block to keep the original engine number, especially since it still performs well. Flat top 18R pistons + hemi 18R-G head = poo compression as i'm sure you know. The dipstick being on the intake side is definitely sus though.

I have some other pistons, All good I don't think it would have RC pistons. It performs to well, Very responsive. Dare I say it'd give the RG in NooB a good run? lol.
Doesn't matter in the end either way, I'll need forged pistons when I turbo it.

That pic above of the rotary compressor and bracket is the one that i gifted to River some years ago, and not lives in Trini's engine bay.

Hope this will work. No reason why it won't, unless one of you says otherwise.

I think the little right angle bracket you have for the top plate is fine but the tie wire isn't. This is always spinning and what is to stop that coming loose or breaking it will take two seconds to spot weld there and make it properly locked, you want it to last for years.

I see what you mean. It was suggested on a YouTube vid to do it this way.

I just picked up some 18rg bits: 3 heads, 3 sets of pistons and a set of cams. Can I get an indication of which ones are the best. I currently have an 18rgeu with 18rgu solex carbs.

Two of the heads are 88250 and one is 88251. The cams are 88251 and the pistons are 88233, 88251 and 88252. Are the 88233 the higher comp ones as they are also in the best condition visually. I'm guessing the 88251 cams are better than the 88270 cams in my GEU motor. One of the 250 heads looks like its been reconditioned at some stage but been let to sit and not used.
