I want to send a sample of the correct compound up to the Queensland company that can re coat them 'cause they seemed surprised when I told them that Toyota used a soft compound. They have been doing all the Jag ones in Ebonite, a hard compound that is hot pressure bonded.
If things work out well, there should be a few becoming available as an Adelaide engine tuner has been saving up all the old ones they could find waiting for an opportuniy like this.
I don't know how long it will be until I get onto this though, it might be a little while.
I could check with some Adelaide places to see if they play with Ebonite.

Ive been in the process of removing my 18RGEU head to fix a BHG, I bought a green toyota 18R/RG book, followed the instructions etc. Cams are out, gears are cabletied to the chain, head bolts undone. Unbolted the brace that goes to the intake, unbolted exhaust manifold, undid the two 12mm nuts at the front.
Now the head will NOT come off. Ive tried lifting and pulling from all directions, but nothing. Ive even had my old man try and help but it wont budge.
Any idea's on what I can do? I dont fancy trying to wedge a screwdriver or anything between the head and the block as I dont want to damage the surfaces.

Have you try persueding it with a big hammer?
I'm not sure how alloy heads would cope from a wack of the old steel toogie, but there has never been a head too stubborn for a rubber mallet in my experience.
You dont necessarily need to hit upwards... just wacking it anywhere where it is strong usually suffices. Just make sure you have double, triple, and quadruple checked that ALL bolts have been removed. Even the little 10/12mm one in the timing cover

I think from memory on the 2TG I managed to find a location to lever it off that wasnt between the machined surfaces of the head and block.
Cant say the same about the 18RG but there is a wayGood luck.

I have just stripped down my spare 18rg that has been sitting around for the last 5 years and the head came off relatively easily. A large tap with a soft (hide) mallet just under the thermostat housing did the job. But the above idea is a good one or you can get a cheap ratchet style puler similar to a block and tackle and attatch it to the head and put a little pressure on the head to lift it off.
