Ok this is a really stupid question. I have lost my dipstick sometime over the last 6years, is there a common motor with the same length dipstick I can use?

You can get one off any 18R engine that uses the same sump as the one you're using. I have a corona mid-sump on my 18R-G, so any mid-sump 18R dipstick suits it.

hey guys I have a 18rg for sale in Brisbane but cannot post in the for sale section.

It is complete from K&N filters to extractors but no flywheel. Everything was fully rebuilt 1000km ago but the build was messed up and the wrong rings were put in. Needs new rings/rebore and maybe new pistons, current ones have only done 1000km though and would offset that cost if you sold them. Have receipts for ~2800 but spent closer to 3500-4000. Carbs were rebuilt, new pistons, new timing gears and chains, head fully rebuilt, valve clearances done, new bottom end, waterpump, tensioner ect. Has a late model efi head with early cams. Price is $1500 and if there isn't any interest I will part it. Wish a little bit of work you would have a brand new engine.

I had to double check this as I was always under the impression there was a slight difference in the dipstick due to it being mounted on the other side of the block. Same part number is listed for both the dip stick and tube for 18-RC and 18RG.

    Dip stick P/N 15301-33013
    Tube P/N 11452-40010

no need to be a dick, i dont think anyone on here would ever pay that much for a not running 18rg, i myself payed $450 for a freshly reconditioned 18rg. zammo has stated he got 2 for $300 recently. i got my 18rg fully rebuilt with all the stuff you listed for $990. im not sure where you got ripped off but i would definately be asking for some money back if they used the wrong rings.

Sorry champ, but with the likelihood of the ring munting both the pistons and bores, I doUbt if you will get anywhere close to getting your money back.

Btw, for not much extra coin, I have built a forged and balanced motor with oversized stainless valves, bronze guides and a line bored main tunnel. So I would say that your engine builder (or whoever specified the wrong sized rings) isn't to be trusted with any of the other work they have done.

That and you shouldn't be flogging your wares in the wrong section. There is a way To enable posting in the for sale section, and this isn't it.

It was a fucking awesome deal. All I had to go do was buy a turbo manifold There was no actuator or dump pipe on the Turbo so I went and saw my mate at Autopro and he gave me another R33 ballbearing turbo with all the bits I needed for free. All I really need now is an ECU.

But this isn't an 18RGTE thread so I'll shut up

Anywho, Personally I think you are asking too much for an engine that isn't running and has issues that need fixing. I sold one of my running 18RG's in a rusty RA40 for $200, Including W50 and a good diff. The person that bought it would get the money back just from scrapping the shell, Doesn't hurt to be generous. Hell, I'm giving my little brother one of my 18RG's to chuck in his L200 ready for his L's
Saying that though, I have seen heaps of people selling the 18RG engines for ridiculous money! The most I saw one for was $8000. I have no idea if it sold or not but it was only freshly rebuilt and had the EFI removed for carbies. Now everyone thinks their 18RG's are worth 5k+

It's getting a bit stupid for such an old engine but people want an era correct twin cam engine for their old Toyota's, Can't argue with that. I just prefer bargain hunting, It'd be cheaper to buy an 18RG from elsewhere that hasn't had work done, Then just take it to a workshop and get it built tough.
