the 5MGE tensioner needs some mods to fit iirc.

So long as my brand new stock unit doesnt get snapped, im all good.
I think the issue with breaking them is that you have to use a massive spanner of socket to undo/install them or adjust the tensioner, which makes it far too easy to apply too much torque and snap them.
I know ive snapped off at least 2 units in the past thanks to this.

Speaking of tensioners... dont forget there is an easy fix for them if you have a leaking no.2 tensioner. See thread below.

$300 (even in Sheep coins) seems a tad steep, but my brand new stock on snapped for the very reason Witzy pointed out... big nut fucker = too easy to put too much torque on = snapped shaft. So I have brand new everything except the shaft (the bit you are making).

Would be interested still as the new one I got from Sleeka Spares (pretty sure it is a 5ME unit) looks gheyer than Bob Brown...

Thank you. Its a fairly complicated fiddly little item with precision diameters in the ID for the hydraulic shuttle to run in and perfectly smooth finish in the top end for the O ring to slide in and seal so there are no leaks.
If you still think its steep i suggest you take your one into your local engineering shop and ask them do do a quote to make you one! I would be amazed if its any less than $400aud.

I think it's way too expensive Simon. You should do three of them for me for $20.

    Including postage to Oz...

edit: in all seriousness, you're a gun on the lathe mate.

Low impedance, they run a resistor pack from factory.

So guys another few quick noddy questions. What are the two wires going into the Dizzy? Do i need these for my MS im assuming i do. If so what do i hook them up to?
Also im looking for info on the alternator wiring. Can anyone tell me what the three pins in the side of the 18RGEU altenator(internally regulated i assume) are for? And im assuming the big lug on the back is for charge wire to battery?
Cheers and sorry for the lame probably repeated questions!

18r ones are for sure and probably 18rg ones too. Are 18rgeu ones?

My 18RGEU came with an internally regulated alternator...

The two wires going into the dizzy (presuming the electronic one) is for the reluctor. Depending on how you're hooking your MS up, you may or may not need them.
