18R-C bolts are not the same.

Usually there is a lot of crud in the threads of these engines, give them a clean up first.

There was a discussion in one of the threads about mitsubishi head studs.
I can't remember which thread it was.

There is indeed discussion of Mitsubishi head studs. Also would have to search to find the answer, but part of what needs to be done is to mill down the posts which the top of the studs seat onto. This will need to be done by your machine shop.

On a separate note, I had a search on a moderate scale, and could not find the following information required for my new Arias 18R-G forgies to be created. I need to know the rod length (bearing centre to pin centre) and the piston crown height (pin centre to deck height, not including the dome)

If anyone has that info handy, that would be great as it isn't the easiest thing to search for.

Standard rod length: 138.3mm centre - centre (as measured by me - I believe it to be accurate)
Compression height (pin centre -> deck of block at TDC with no dome) : ~ 39.75mm. (39.5mm to be very safe)

Pistons based on these measurements are currently being run successfully in my brother's engine.

I still have the order sheet if you're interested in seeing it.

I also still have the order sheet for my pistons to suit the 22R crank.

You can also ask them to check the design my engine builder ordered last spring. Reference D & G motors, 18Rx pistons. They sent one of the RG pistons in to Arias. At the same time, tell them to pull their heads out of their asses and keep the design on file since they sell at least 6 sets a year. LOL

    Cheers. I'll check them out

The stud is not re useable. I'll take a photo of it compared to the others to show what I mean. It also does have mr worried that the block may be in need or attention too. Will have pics in a day or so. On night shifts

I'm not dealing direct with Arias, but with a mob called "Paradise Racing". Still a bit upset with them though.

Steve, the rod length you gave agrees with the Haynes manual (138.2 to 138.3 - found it after I posted). I would indeed be interested in seeing the order sheet if that's ok, then I can just utilise the same dimensions. If you want to email it, best address to send to is [email protected]

Can't get them to talk to Arias and realise the info is already all there?

I spoke with Nick Arias III (I get the impression the III is pretty important!) for my 18rg pistons two or three weeks ago and he was quite comfortable he had all the information to manufacture them.

Thanks all, the info you have given me lines up with what the salesman has stated.

    Rep all round??

Yes, I can vouch for Nick Arias III. He has been great to deal with for the two piston purchases that I made.
He replies to emails very well and the pistons came up looking great.

Well I was mistaken. The head stud was reuseable. It just needed a good clean up and double check of the threads.

The only minor drama I have now is to find those two half moon plugs for the back of the head. I think I miss placed them or the engine/head rebuilder has them. Hmmmm. Sujestions for replacements?

Dood, the valve clearance and cam timing would need to be setup as per the manufacturer specs (i.e. the cam manufacturer)
