i have some ngk leads, fitted beautifully.
cheers
Those top gun leads look just like the eagle leads.
The not fitting issue can easily be solved by sliding the dust covers down the lead until they contact the tappet cover.
My brother has been using that design and they've been fine other than the metal clip coming off every now an then.
Some well placed lead clips also make them look quite organised.

got my 18RGU delivered today...
Seems pretty clean,Also has the yamaha head on it 1111-88250 (i think).
has a clunk when i turn it over, so i took the tappet cover off and the timing chain gets tight, then clunks and slops out... then it tightens again.. would this be a tensioner problem? there is some marks to show the chain has hit the tappet cover.
Going to pull head and timing cover off to get a closer look and make sure no valves have kissed the pistons. and to replace the HG to be safe.
and do i pull the head off first then the timing cover? and what pattern do i loosen the headbolts at?
Regards
Dan

its rather clean, must have been rebuild or atleast freshend up withing last 12 months, engine block is a nice blue, new HD clutch,
previous owner said it backfired out carbs and they caught fire. i seen the car and yeah all the fuel hoses, clutch cylinder ect where melted.. im guessing the warn timing chain jumped a tooth or two which cause timing to go out and bang... im hoping the valves havnt hit the pistons
Ahhwell, all fun and games![]()

The NGK leads fit well for me. Anyone useing anything other than TRD or NGK needs to have another look IMHO.

Hi,
not uncommon for them to fire back through carbs, thats often to do with cams espesh if they are big aftermarket ones. All 18rgs i've ever owned have fired back through the carbs occasionly. meh. If the chain has jumped a gear then the engine will be fubar-ed. I genuinely believe that the chain cannot jump over, well i did till it happened to my mates 18rg. High revs doing a burnout and oil pressure dropped, lost tension in chain and wham bam thank you maam. 7 valves bent like bananas and the 8th on not too straight either. Somehow he managed to limp it home.
Alternatively too the carbies could have been really farked too, It shouldn't spit out that much fuel. If it spits any fuel out under normal operation it'll get sucked back in next revolution of the engine.
Compression test ftw before removing the head. If no compression then pull apart, if it has good compression then get some carbies and give it a go!
