Just to enter the EFI/carby issue, I think it's time that I post up some port photos, seeing as how few people have posted pics of modified ports.

Polished Combustion chamber for heat reduction, and because I could.

Notice the brand new tapered valve guides and the contouring around them

The view from inside the manifold

Pictures of my manifold and ITB arrangement coming too.

    Silly,
Insane is the amount of time I spent on that head for probably little benefit.
I removed a shitload of metal, which was fine, but the polishing took forever!
Thankfully, the previous owner of that head had alrady had the combustion chambers machined smooth, so shining them up was quick.

I should mention that the valve seats have a lot more angles on them than a standard item and that the extra angles were done to accommodate the oversize TRD Valves that came with the head.

I had originally wanted shorter runners, but I couldn't clear the thermostat housing.
I might have to slightly lean the engine toward the exhaust side to give me more clearance for the air filter/plenum.
I measured it up the other day in my bro's 28 and I've only got 50mm to play with before I'd have to remodel the strut tower (not going to do it!).

    Anyone got any other ideas?
I've already thought about making up some curved tubes so that I can mount the ITBs vertically for more space, but I'd like to avoid that if I can.

Would an 18R-GUE thermostat housing give you the room you need?? Judging by the rest of the gear on there, shouldn't be too hard for you to make up your own thermo housing anyway!!

It was an 18RGEU housing that I was trying to clear.
The fuel rail is mounted exactly the same way as on the standard manifold, I'm just moving the fuel inlet line, reg and out line.

Make a custom one, you know you want to!! Either that or get really short bells with socks over them.

I will eventually be making a custom air box, with built or bolt in internal bells.

As I plan to be adding a turbo at some stage, I will have to have a fully sealed alloy airbox to put on.

I'm thinking about the usual redline two throat paper filters to start with if I get stuck for time. (custom backing plate required to suit hole pattern of course).

I won't be risking my freshly built engine on those ramflo foam filters, they stop gravel, but we've found dust in carby throats before.

I remeasured the room for the airbox and found it's actually 76mm, not allowing for gaskets.
I love it when I find another inch.

I will also mention that those runners have a constant taper from the 43mm TB down to the port opening size of ~39.5mm.
The ports weren't chamfered to get to that size , they were completely tapered out to it (That takes a bloody long time with a dremel and a flap wheel).

The original 18RG port opening is 34.7mm before they chamfered it for the 36mm manifold.

Does anyone have any pictures of 18RG ports that have been professionally ported?
I'd like to find any differences in the way that they'd do it.

Started to go through this thread.
Looking for the best injectors to suit the18rgue with a 300 cc plus rating.
    no bigger than 440cc.
What make and model would I be looking at?
    does the 7mgte 440's suit or the 3sgte 430's
    or other.
Oh, am in the market for them now, so any available let me know.

    1G DSM Injectors

These are 450cc and will be perfectly fine for any 18R-GUE with grunt. They are low impedance, I have a resistor pack you can have for $10 posted if you need (my ECU can drive low impedance injectors directly) and they have the correct spray pattern. The injectors from 7Ms etc have a broad spray pattern which will wet your ports nicely, but not do much to put fuel in your combustion chamber. The 3S's injectors are side-feed, so no good. The ones in the link will slot straight into your motor and are a direct replacement for the OEM items.
