on the gearbox somehwere youll find the wire, trace the color/voltage back to the cluster or somewhere in the dash.
I have read most of the posts I could find on the subject (many thanks to all). What I am wondering is if there is a wire or terminal on the AE82 instruments to get the speed signal from. I will remove the instruments at some stage but have been slack.

I thought the speed sensor came from the back of the instrument cluster where the speedo goes into it?
There's some good info on speed signals regarding 20valves in this thread http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21132

I am using a cable for my speedo and was just interested to know if there is a terminal on the rear of the standard AE82 instrumentsthat emits the signal. I am using a GZE LSD which may have an output but I am not using the electronic speedo drive.
Yeah, sorry my post was in reply to berad's.
Standard ae82's had 4ac's didn't they? So unlikely they'd have such a terminal... maybe a twinky would, not sure if they needed a spd signal though. Hopefully someone has the answers for you![]()

well a sprinter has nothing electronic and they still have an unused speed sensor so you never know
The unused speed sensor you mention on the AE86 is it on the gearbox or on the rear of the instruments.
it's a reed switch in the ae86 speedo assembly.
I know the KE70 and AE71 speedo's don't contain the reed switch.
as JP says, I didnt know the corollas of that year didnt have them though, I guess a reed switch off the tail shaft will have to do them

Cheers,

You'll need a twin cammer's Dash which has an output for the speed sensor... I can't remember exactly which screw, definately the standard carby 82 doesn't have it.Originally Posted by rob20v
