I've got two 30+ year old fuel tanks at home, neither have ever been cleaned and would have only had the cheapest petrol put in them and the inside of both of them is clean enough to eat out of The last one I drained had a couple of insects and a christmas beetle and that was it!

Most of the "crap" in your tank is from the bowser i.e. floaties like beatles, insects, leaf matter and crap.

So many petrol stories and myths it's hard to filter out the nonsense from the facts
hmm... interesting... could've been some injector cleaner crap the shop put in the tank as well... ?

edit : is there much difference between using octane booster with petrol here and with petrol from the east coast then?

well, if the base fuel is different, of course there'll be difference when adding octane booster..

as i said, the only reason im not using vortex is the cost, my car actually runs better, and uses less petrol on it (400k's to a tank on ultimate, 470ish on vortex) but even those extra k's still arent enough to offset the extra cost of the vortex.

The BP Ultimate is definetly from here, it chages colour and smell when you get to the eastern states stuff

Personal thing, same as josh, my old 3sgte and 3sge ran poorly on vortex as compared to Ultimate, so i dun touch it anymore, well only in emergencys when i cant make it to the BP

well, could be cause mines set up to run jap fuel...

i havent changed anything on it since the cut was imported... i only recently changed to a factory ECU.

funny how even the same motors can vary so differently with the same fuel!

so Eldar yours was fully imported ? cos my 3S was imported in a halfcut also.. i wouldnt say it ran like a dog. but there was a noticable improvement with ultimate.

of topic, i find the shell fuel runs my 20valve very sweetly. the 98 Ron one

yeah, imported and went straight into my car, i didnt change any seals/belts, nothing. few coolant lines and some other rubber hoses but nothing requiring resetting timing etc.

My JDM Subaru was tuned for Jap fuel. Never had a problem with Ultimate.

As has been said, things that are true for other states do not apply in WA. All fuel comes from BP and is NOT imported.

    Cheers,
    Nik

I think the confusion with "all fuel in wa comes from BP"
is caused by the bp refinery is where the fuel is stored
BP makes fuel at the refinery but fuel is also imported and stored in BP's tanks
