Well, well, well ...
You know when you buy something you trust that you've done the right research and you've made the best decision for what you want to do?
Well, I was looking around the WWW for information on using digital multimeters/engine analyzers (sorry US spelling is better in this instance on GOOGLE). Some tips on making best use of the new gadget I bought on the weekend as the manual is pretty basic.
I came across a test done by Yahoo Cars UK and, there it was. Ist place in a test out of 7 different multimeters - the Draper Engine Analyser. And check the price. Those POMS sure are paying through the nose for some of their gear. 70 quid is almost $200. Here's a synopsis of the result:
"The most comprehensive meter tested, and the only one with a bar-graph display as well as digital. That's useful - especially when testing sensors and other variable components. It also has a temperature sensor, hold function and an audible continuity test, along with dwell and tachometer. The instructions are not as good as the Gunsons, but they certainly tell you what you need to know. Our Best Buy."
He He. Now I'm happy!
BTW, this unit is on sale at DSE until next Sunday (29/04). Reduced from $79.95 to $59.86. It's a better unit than the one offered by Jaycar due mainly to the addition of the temperature probe and the analyser/high tension lead attachment. The Jaycar one sells for $39.95.
The store I bought mine from had the original price but here's the weblink to it. If you're interested make sure they ring up the sale price.
I've crossposted this from my 1GGZE Hilux conversion thread for others who may be interested. Hope this is OK.![]()

i bought the last series of digitor multimeter, pretty much exactly like that one shown except different colours. mines dodgey though because the temperature probe is 10-12degrees out! when you buy one just check with a known temp meter that yours is calibrated right.
unfortunately i lost my receipt so i couldnt take it back![]()
I have one of these as well, I love it. If you ever do anything wiring-related on your car you want to have a semi-decent multimeter like this, it makes life much nicer.![]()

That goes on your spark plug wire, like a timing light. That's one of it's features which I liked.Originally Posted by NeoNasty

I picked one up. They are alright. Good for the money.
The leads are short as all shit and crap quality too. I think I will prob head out and but some quality longer leads. Other than that, cant complain for the price.
