Clutch fluid?!?!?
It's the same as your trans fluid & P/S fluid, I just chuck the Toyota type-IV in all of them. But pretty much any P/S or trans fluid should do the job.
I have a Mx83 with a 1jz fitted and have noticed a resevoir labeled "pump fan coolant" on the left hand side of engine bay with lines running to the water pump. I'm assumin this is the hydralic water pump resevoir.
My question is this resevoir is now below the "low" indicator and i am unsure what sort of fluid i am supposed to refil it with. Is it just a clutch fluid or powersteering type fluid?
Will i b able to buy it from local auto parts store or is it summin i need to get from toyota.
cheers mike

just normal dextron 3 should do it or you can use some toyota type t4 its better fluid anyway
I use the Toyota fluid in autos, steering and fans - it's reasonably priced and does a good job.
how resistant to heat does the fluid need to b?
Somewhere between slightly & very.....
Why do you ask, do you have a choice in fluids? I doubt the hydraulic fan would produce as much heat as an auto trans.
My fan fluid cap has "Use Dextron III" printed on it
I have used the toyota type auto fluid in my trans, power steering and hyd fan for over a year with no problems
Its cheep too at around 20 bucks for 4lts trade
Not sure bout others but mine gets pretty darn hot, esp on long drivesOriginally Posted by mr_mike
