Dont the ls400 engine mounts and rubbers bolt the 1uz in to mx83,s , that of course if you use a celsior cut ,

The 1UZ is a bit of work to fit, but quite doable. I'd suggest the 1JZ for an 'easy' swap if you haven't done much of this sort of stuff before though.

They sure don't, but it's not too hard to make some up to do the job. I just did what I always do - positioned the engine into place with blocks of wood etc. (with gearbox attached), and then cut out pieces of steel drilled to the engine block, and more pieces to join them to the mounts (I used the original 7M mounts in this case), tack welded them, pulled it off and went nuts with the MIG.
OK
Questions.
1. How much harder is a 2jz swap than a 1jz swap. Is it mostly the extra cost of the front cut that puts people off?
2. If I go 1UZ then should I buy a crown Majesta front cut or a Celsior.?
Do either of these fit over the cross member with the gearbox in its standard position.?
Do the stock crown or celsior exhaust manifolds have clearance issues in an mx83??
Andrew.
* Celsior front cut. You need a front mount engine sump. Get a early V8 Crown tranny too. It has a slip yoke output like your 7M tranny. Bolts up to the gearbox tunnel with no mods.Originally Posted by amichie
* No, I had move my engine and tranny 40mm towards the front of the car to clear the crossmember and so the rocker cover didn't foul on the brake booster. Got my tailshaft retubed(40mm extension).
* Yes on the driver side there is clearance issues. The steering shaft will touch the stock mainfolds. I made custom extractors here. My steering shaft goes back in after I've put the right side manifold on. Takes me about 1 hour to remove my extractors. It a tight squeeze.
Easist part is getting the engine in. Getting it running and making it look like 'factory' is the hard part. Hope that helps.

Celsior engine has the necessary front sump, but has the rubber donut instead of the slip yoke on the tailshaft - if you're good with pulling autos apart, you can swap the output shafts over. Crown engine has the slip yoke auto already, but wrong sump. Crown manifolds will fit, the celsior and soarer ones are both a bit of an issue for clearance round the steering shaft. Best option is to fabricate some pipes!
Ahff, Macro beat me to it...
I didn't shift the engine forward though, I used an MX73 booster that allowed the engine to clear.
I heard crown majesta is a front sump.
Mr Shin did do also have to move your motor and box forward 40mm??

Not cheating at all... Just making effective use of old junk!
