HAHA.
Go the 1JZ! I wanted one in the RA60. However after some measurements, it will be a tight fit. Very tight. Radiator mounted out the front of the car tight.
For the money the 1JZ cant be beat, but maybe too long and heavy for RA60.
3SGE for a nice 120kW fun, 3sgte reach for the moon! Many people have gotten huge powers out of these things.

It's in relation to the post you quoted which said it's more sensible to just get an MA61, ie you're covering old ground. Try to keep up.Originally Posted by Stefan

I quoted it to highlight the fact that Tim is one of the few people who actually has a 1jz in an xA6x Celica, in quite a successful drift car... and every opinion on this board (including this thread) in relation to the pros/cons/difficulty/blahblah of a 1jz into an xA6x Celica seems to disregard this.Originally Posted by Norbie

Weights of 3tgte, 1jz and 3rz?
Height of 3rz is this an issue in for my ta63?
Is a 3rz an easier conersion than the 1jz into a ta63?
Also any general comments on the 3rz and its performance are welcome.
I'm just trying to weight up this two option thus far, i'd really like to go the 1jz route so if anyone can offer any valid info the impact on handling that would be great (preferably someone with experience).
Umm... gee, I wonder who you could could possibly ask...Originally Posted by Diz44zy

Yes, I agree with you, I'm just pointing out that the original poster has specifically chosen to ignore Tim's worthy advice.Originally Posted by Stefan

Accurate info on engine weights is hard to come across, if anyone has first-hand information I'd love to see it as well! In general terms though, 1JZ > 3RZ > 3T.Originally Posted by Diz44zy
I haven't heard of anyone doing a 3RZ into a TA63, that's a pretty obscure conversion - but at a guess I'd say height will be OK if you keep the engine as far back as possible. The JZ engines cause problems because they're longer and occupy space in the front of the engine bay where the bonnet slopes down.Originally Posted by Diz44zy
There was an S13 with a 3RZ in it getting around recently, I don't think it had any mods to the bonnet but I'm not certain on that? If it fits in an S13 I'm sure it'll be fine in a Celica.
I'd say yes, simply because you'll have much more space for a decent radiator, FMIC and fans.Originally Posted by Diz44zy
It's a light commercial engine (eg Hilux) so it's not designed with performance in mind out of the box - however they do have a reputation for being very strong so you can pump lots of boost into them and make silly amounts of power. So if you're willing to spend the money on custom bits you can get good power but in standard form it won't be all that great.Originally Posted by Diz44zy

what whould it take to get 300rwkw out of a 3rz?
Assuming stock internals are good for 300-350rwhp as state by Berad
The reason i ask this question is that it will more than likely effect which path i take.
Cheers for all the help
From your budget there shouldn't be any isses with 300rwkw from a 3RZ.
Dropping some forged pistions into the 3RZ, a bit of a quick head clean up and a decent turbo should see you there(maybe cams, but your still under buget
) IMO
Cheers

Thankz to all those that helped looks like project RZA63 should be the go.
