hi i have located a corona avante manual diff at a wreckers and was just wondering if it would be any good to put in my '74 celica. They have rear discs on that diff don't they??? Anyone got any idea of the measurements of the diff???

they are a piece of junk. Sure they have disk brakes but you cant get LSD centres for them and the axles are quite thin as compared to a G-series which are hell chunky. From memory they are about 1440 mm wide.

like what pube said, not worth the time.
keep the calipers.
would the discs fit straight up to a g-series diff??? Excuse me if i'm stoopid but what did the g-series diff come in????
The discs will bolt up to any T or F live axle, G series are 5 and 6 stud, no the discs wont fit, but you can mod all that.
This is all very common stuff, do a search.
There is always these diffs for sale as well as just the brakes.

search for toyota axle database.
Excuse my ignorance but aren't these F series and the normal LSD is from the ma61?
nope the corona avante live axle diffs are borg warners, IRS rt142's are F-series. The old mark 2 coronas have a live axle f-series.

The RT142 corona diff is crap!! But the disc setup is Good !!![]()
For TA22 you need a RA23/28's diff & panard arm...
remove old drums & fit the RT142's disc set up ( some mod's to diff housing for shocker clearance )

Don't argue with an IDIOT.He will bring you down to his level and then beat you with experience!
hey sorry to revive my ancient thread, but i was just wonderin if kits i have seen to adapt g-series diffs to r31 rear discs would work with the rt142 corona rear discs. the kits include a caliper bracket thing....the conversion was in an issue of Zoom. isn't this caliper bracket just a piece of steel cut to a shape so as that the caliper and discs can be bolted up to it?????
it would be more sensible use the whole alloy mount as it incorporates the handbrake (inner drum brake) we well as mounting the disk caliper. That's what makes it a relatively easy conversion for T-series live axles.
otherwise you also have to make the G-series end plate suit the handbrake
You cannot physically fit the alloy rt142 disk brake mount over the g-series axle bearing, the bearing is just too big! By the time you machine out the centre of the alloy mount there is no room to drill the 4 mount holes, trust me, I have tried it!! I have also tried using a commodore steel brake mount which are the same as the corona unit but a little less meat. Even still, you run into issues with the g-series bearing retainer being too big and interfearing with the handbrake lever. I made some simple brackets to fit r31 skyline calipers to my g-series. They fit on the inner side of the bearing retainer. This is possible when using the rt142 corona disks as they have a much deeper hat than the r31 disks and they also fit over the axle end hat(?). Corona rt142 handbrake cables naearly fit but they are an inch or so too short but they have the similar ends to the r31 handbrake ends.
I will get some pics up of the caliper bracket and the installation soon.
