Ok, to add something constructive here, and hopefully clear some things up...

How many people wanting these changes are program developers?? Program developers know something very important... software changes introduce bugs. So then the debugging begins, which can take minutes, can take months. Making changes to the software would require full beta testing of the changes, and the interaction with other parts of the software, which is a full on thing if the site is to be operational at the same time.

Also, as previously mentioned, changes to the source code of the software, though possible and powerful, need to be re-done every time the software is updated to the new version. As not everyone here is a financial member contributing to Toymods in that respect (Im working on it Kirsty... a $295,000 mortgage seems to be more important at the moment), to pay a software developer to do that for us would take away most of the funds to keep the club running, or send it to bankruptcy. For somebody to do it in their spare time voluntarily is a huge burdon, which I wouldnt put on anybody.

Even minor changes which are options in the software need to be beta tested thoroughly, because software being software, is never perfect... so a minor change could turn out to be a disaster.

I am... And I have offered to donate my services for things like this...

Also, a script can be written, so that after a software upgrade has been performed, it will go add the new PHP to the file/s automatically...

And can you ensure compatibility with the upgraded software?? All I am saying is that most of the people asking for these changes dont realise what actually goes into it. I recently updated a Citect project from an older version to the current one, and low and behold it was full of incompatibility issues... this happens with all sorts of software. Try running early Microsoft software on Vista and early documents on Office 2007... backwards compatibility has been truncated severly. Compatibility issues with user modifications happens all too often in software upgrades. Keeps me in a job though

You're correct, there's no way I could ensure compatibilty as I'm not part of the software development team at vBulletin, and therefore couldn't guarantee that they'll even stay with PHP at all leading into the future...

well.. as long as you can make the changes, ensure complete compatability, no bugs, and provide full software support for the modified software (since the original paid for software has been modified), then there shouldn't be a problem...

except that the forum software has been paid for and the onus of support is with the people the software was bought from etc etc... which was the reason the software was bought in the first place??

maybe you could contact the VB people and ask them to implement your changes in the next release of code? then everyone winz!

    ?
if you are advertising and put your number.... then they can call..

that's how it used to work in the old days.. when you had to go and buy a paper called "the trading post"

if they don't call.. and don't get back to you... they obiously don't really want to buy your car do they?

i'm not sure what your point is.. but i don't want to give you my phone number either
