And River, the way I remember it I filled in those forms the same each time (mostly, and I think. It was six months ago now). I made sure the second time that I did it properly at least, because I didn't want to get knocked back again. I don't want to appear agumentative, but it seems you're calling me "too stupid, arrogant or just a plain smart" to fill out the forms correctly.

    Hi,

Actually... I'm now workin' for the man. My hazy, lazy days are now gone, and I'm back contracting in IT for one of the big banks.

I miss the days off, but I do like the money. I'm torn.

the fact that you have NOT provided your last name.....

How is this different? It just ensures that a slew of new members interested only in selling their car don't join and then piss off after the car is sold. It also ensures that a car which may otherwise have gone unnoticed by the Toymods community is put out for show so that others may have the option to buy it.

I genuinely don't see how that can be detrimental to the site or the club. In fact, as I see it as being the direct opposite.
Yes this is correct, but what is advertised needs to be from a forum member. This way the person buying has some protection from dodgy sellers. as soon as someone posts somthing that is not theirs, they will become the person that is blamed if it is a dodgy deal. Shit fight ensues draging the forums down to Hot4s level. this is where the old forums were and the Club was losing members because of the classifieds and all the tools that the classifieds attracted.

Lambo...if I'd been given your post first off I wouldn't have argued. Thank you.

Rep for you for a clear and concise answer without any bad vibes. Cheers

Sorry had to edit after I thought for a sec....

People buy things every day from sources other than Toymods, and for the most part i would assume are fairly happy about it...Toymods protection or not. Why can't we post a pic and some short details and a link to the original ad or a scan of the original ad? The Toymodder looking at it could be warned by a sticky at the top stating that Toymods has no control over the ad and can't guarantee safe dealings, and they could then make their own mind up as to whether or not they want to look at it. Isn't it a little bit Orwellian to start deciding what grown adults can and can't look at (even though I understand that the Toymods forum would be the vessel through which any ad was viewed).

    No problems.

Whilst the Board does actually want to provide all that it can to the Clubs members, but at the same time there is a need to protect the club and it's members as well. Unlike most other car forums, Toymods is Incorporated and to that end it is liable under law like any other Business to fraudulent behavior.

If someone that is a member purchases something and upon recipt find that isn't what they wanted from another member, and the seller dissappears there is a means to which the seller can be contacted if the circumstanses require it. We had dodgy operators on the old forums and several of these turned nasty behind the scenes. As a result of the the way that the classifieds was pulling down the forums, the new forum software was found that could have the choice of who could and couldn't post in sections.

There was a serious concideration to not include the Classifieds in the new forums at all, The Club Members Would have lost out, So the board found a fair balance on behalf of the Club Members for the Club members. Keep in mind that the moderators of the forums moderate in their free time and any additions to the the current rule setup would mean more moderation. The System works as is and whilst it isn't perfect it is servicable.

Your Idea has been noted for discussion however it will more than likely be the same answer as the last time this question was asked.

    Cheers

Yeah, A template might be a good idea, I think it was discussed at one stage but never happened at the time. Will look at getting somthing moving in that direction.

    Suss slide.
if you can point out any of those crap threads to someone it would really help ALOT.
we can't get to everything so we are constently relying on you guys to inform us of anything that you think requires us to look at..

That stupid speaking would have me personally deleteing threads until they can learn to speak properly.

suss_slide, the idea of a template was brought up a little while ago, and I even put my hand up to work on it, but it never progressed very far... (http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=11360)

I'm pretty sure that it would've been because it is a modification to the software, and would hinder any future software upgrades...

Template sounds like a really good idea and it must contain the state in the thread title!

I was thinking maybe do what Placenta Juan said and have a little radio/checkbox button to make a thread publicly viewable but not repliable.
    If it's possible.
This way it would still give exposure. A contact number or email address should be provided so it will give a chance for non-forum members to get in contact with the seller but at the same time making them unable to post in threads means they won't clutter up the forum and the gronks out there continue to stay out of the forum.

    Everybody wins?
Maybe limit this to 1 every quarter or 1 every 6 months to avoid abuse from members.
