regarding Mr 'PIMPN soarer' dude though - this guy clearly doesnt have a clue. best to buy a 2jz front cut? then completely disassemble it, then buy a 1jz and disassemble it? all with background idea of "finding the best way to go about it $$$ wise"
come on!

mate you are absolutely correct there, in experianced people prolly shouldnt try things beyond them. I'd agree cheap and easy would be 2j straight up.Originally Posted by ed_jza80

The result was a mid 15sec NA MA70 that continued to own stock turbo MA70's at the lights and at the strip

I reckon you should forget the JZ engines entirely and throw in a built 202 red motor. I mean that counts as "different" doesn't it?

fuck yeah, hell, wait till river finds this thread and suggests you skip the 18rg so that you dont have issues with....
"so much torque, the chassis twisted, coming off the start line"
fucken movie
this thread is a laugh, completely off topic.

im here for the gangbang...
from what it sounds like ladies...he already has a 1J in his car
91 soarer usually suggests JZZ30...which means the 2J bottom end isnt all that unfeasible...easier rego for one

THINK ABOUT IT.
still, i lol'd.
The 18R-G. The GOOD 2 Litre Tractor motor.
Assuming you already have a 1J fitted into your car, a 1.5JZ is trivial. Motor mounts, oil pans, water pumps, power steering, A/C, alternators, all transfer across from one to another.
Now, going on the assumption that you have a full 1JZ already, you'll need a full 2JZ bottom end, as well as a 2JZ timing belt, a 2JZ serp belt tensioner, and perferrably, a 2JZ water pump with 2JZ water neck, as it's longer then the 1JZ one to reach up the extra inch to the head.
You should use a 1JZ head gasket on it, the 2JZ one has a slightly more restrictive water jacket.
I'm in the process of finishing up a 1.5JZ into my JZA70 right now. The reason being, I had a nicely built 1JZ, and seized the bottom end. I ended up buying a complete 2JZ motor, but I'm leaving the 1JZ head on for now, as I don't have a turbo manifold for the 2JZ yet.
Now, differences that people don't know about the two motors:
- The 2JZ has a re-designed combustion chamber compared to the 1JZ. You can run more timing on the 2JZ head over the 1JZ head. Something to think about when you're trying to tune a 1.5JZ
- I haven't confirmed this, but I THINK the 1JZ has a SLIGHTLY smaller combustion chamber volume, leading to a slightly higher compression on the 1.5JZ vs either a 1JZ or 2JZ. This is just rumor though. I haven't compared the pistons, or TDC positions of the two motors to confirm.
Good info there mate, cheers.
Have you modified the 1j head at all before fitting it to the 2j block? I was under the impression water galleries or something needed welding up?
I noticed on the 2 headgaskets that the the water jackets were a lot more restrictive on the 2j, but you say a 1j gasket is fine to use?
Cheers
Matty
Nothing needs welding up. People do it all the time over on this side of the ocean Almost everything lines up perfectly.
Either head gasket will work, but seeing as how the 1JZ head is sort of expecting the enlarged water jackets, it would be best to use that head gasket.
Hmm thats interesting then.......
People over there are obviously have success with doing it too?
Is the 2jz timing belt longer?
2JZ block is taller so yes the timing belt must be longer.

AFAIK Shane (1JZ.747) is the only person on toymods (in australia) that has a running 1.5J,
so might be smart to drop him a PM if he's willing to give up the info?
half of people say that it will bolt straight on, other half say it needs some welding and machining?!?!?
Elmo.
errr...manny on here has one in a JZZ30...
