    Default Suspension opinion

    Hi all
An importer has a full set of cusco suspension for sale for a gz20, one of them has had some slight damage as you can see in the pics, my question is does the damage look severe enough to impede their performance at all, the one with damage is next to one without dmage for comparison, also i took a photo of the the top of them, are these dampening adjustable, these are the rear two i didnt take to much notice of the fronts as they were still in the car???

    Thanks in advance

from here it jsut looks like paint chips which wouldnt be a problem, but depending on how old they are or how much they were used they might need a regas.

maybe jsut check (if you can) if the shaft is bent but apart from that... from what i can see they would be fine.

from the third pic you can see that there is an ever so slight ding in them that goes beyond the paint, as for the KYB dont know could be a product code or something else

Shouldn't really be too much of an issue but from what I've head about dings and dangs on shocks is that they don't tend to last as long as you'd expect, so you might end up having to regas sooner.

Apart from that, there isn't really too much to worry about. If it was damaged a bit more, or in several places like that, then it'd affect the pressure inside, hence affecting the way they work on the road. Might only cause a bit of pull to one side? But again, doesn't look that bad.

Are Cusco (KYB??) rebuildable in Australia?

The only shocks I know that can definitely be rebuilt here are Koni and Bilstein.

Still might be worthwhile just for the hardware, ie adjustable platforms, springs and top plates.

If once they do wear out, they turn out not to be rebuildable you could always get Koni or Bilstein to cut them up and make some custom ones for you with those bits.

is the outer tube the one that the pistons slides along? you might need to limit travel with bumpstops.... or you might want to get the shock checked first in case the piston is already rooted

no the outer shell is seperate from the cylinder inside which the piston travels up and down

can anyone give me a quick rundown of how to change the rears, eg how to get to the bolts do i need to take parcel shelf or backseat out or both and how, first time on changing suspension on a soarer
