Default Need some help car not going into gear

    Hey,

Well last night i was driving home from work and when i went to shift into first at the lights it wouldnt go, and the only way to get it in was to force it so hard i bent the gear stick a little bit. all the other gears are also quite a bit hard to get into get however they do go into gear.

The thing is when the engine is off all gears go perfectly however reverse doesn't and it is the easiest to get in when the car is on.

    My car is a KE70 with a 4speed manual.

    hopefully someone can help me

It could be a few things.

Maybe air in the clutch line, which will need to be bled.

    Failed Clutch master/slave cylinder.

Clutch badly warn and nearly non-existant.

Really low on oil in gearbox

    Gearbox comming away from engine.

    Broken gearbox.

    Happy searching.

Ahh yes sorry i should have realised that knowing my ke had cable too.

Check the cable is pulling the throwout fork. And maybe do an oil change on the box just to make sure.

KE70 has a cable clutch from memory...(not hydro, so you can't bleed it!).

To start with I'd look to see if you are getting the right amount of clutch movement at the gearbox! It sound like it might be a problem with the clutch not disengaging!

Get someone to press the clutch pedal and look at the gearbox, see if there is much movement at the clutch fork...

If there isn't much movement try and trace it back and work out why...cable might need adjustment?

If there looks to be a fair bit of movement the you an try putting the diff off the ground, hand break off, with the gearbox in a gear and then getting someone to press the clutch pedal.

When the clutch pedal is pressed you should be able to turn the tailshaft, when the clutch pedal isn't pressed you shouldn't be able to turn the tailshaft...currently I suspect you won't be able to turn the tailshaft even with the clutch pedal pressed..

    Cheers

    I'm not 100% sure!

But at a guess there will be adjustment at the clutch pedal, and somewhere near the clutch fork. I'd suggest simply following the cable back from the clutch fork to the pedal (inside).

It shouldn't be crazy complex to work out

    Cheers

i think the adjustment is where the cabe goes through the firewall. There will be a nut on thread on the outer side of the cable. Maybe that has came loose.

    correct

the cable is ribbed where it goes thru the firewall.

remove the little C clip thingo, and pull cable out a bit, or let it in a bit...which ever way it needs to go, u work it out, then put the clip back on.

should make sense when u check the car out

Here is a copy from a manual no how to set the C clip.
If you have run out of adjustment the cable may be strectch and ready to fail, or the clutch is almost worn out,
    Best of luck

If clutch is only half engaging gears would grind when being selected and would be hard to get out as well as in while driving.
I would suspect low oil or stuffed gearbox.
