Default top feed injectors with barb fittings....

    hi folks,

any suggestions as to what cars have injectors that are:
    -top feed
-barb fitting (e.g. no fuel rail on top, connects via flexible hose)
    -high impedance
    -flow from 280-360cc/min

Am re-thinking the injector placement and plenums in 18RTE and loosing the fuel rail would make things 28683% easier - hence the top feeders that have individual clamps for each injector and fleible hose going to a remote fuel 'manifold'.

    tia,
    Charles.

Not sure of the impedance but FJ20 or early nissan injected L20's

I Think the FJ ones could be the go for ya.

holden piazza's turbo things have barbed top feeds also. the flow would be bang on in there somewhere being a 2.0 turbo, not sure about impedance.

A friend of mine has a VL turbo which uses hose-tail injectors (I think that's what you're talking about), and he recently upgraded the injectors using regular top-feeds (R32 GTR I think). You can jam hoses over them and if you clamp them down good it actually works fine. It's maybe not ideal but it really opens up your options; not many cars have decent-sized hose-tail injectors.

yup - hose-tail is what i'm after - end game being deletion of fuel rail.

i will go to wreckers today and look under a few hoods - not that i'm likely to find a VL turbo

same style of injector in the std VL too

There will prob be more of them there than there will be flys.

well some research suggests VLT's only flow about 260cc/min - so i'm guessing the NA squirters flow even less?

I'll note down part numbers down when i get more time to return to the wreckers.

i have seen quite a few ppl run standard injectors with just hose and a hose clamp on them, im told you just need to remove the top o-ring

Yes indeed, it works fine but you need some way of clamping the injectors down on the runners. VL's have plastic brackets for this purpose, perhaps they could be adapted?

VL injectors (beige) are only 3 ohms. I brought one home to look at for my 4AGE. They have the single pintle design and take a C type plug (grey 4AGE ones).

I did look into flow rates but can't remember. I am sure it was no greater than 250cc though.
