sounds like the computer is a little slow to adjust to the change in throttle, and its just running rich on the high rpm change. Doesnt sound bad, if you get light blue smoke, then its time for new rings.

Hi,
I own a AE92 Corolla SX with a smallport 4age and its has currently done 270000km, I’ve had it for 2 years now..
When I rev all the way to 7 grand in 1st gear and change to 2nd gear (not too hard but still hard) a puff of smoke comes out of the exhaust, the colour of the smoke is kinda white but abit darked so its not completely white.
This problem only has occurred a few times but it still concerns me. Now I’m no mechanic (but I’m learning) so wouldn't know if this is normal or if there is something wrong.
So normal or problem? If problem how bad is it and how can I fix it?
Cheers

I think that's your answer.
It's probably a bit of oil slipping past the rings or valve guides when the vacume increases dramatically as you lift off the throttle.
Would you call it a blueish colour?
noob, double post
i was having a VERY hard time thinking that an engine can produce light blue smoke. so i googled it;
it has a blue ting, but i wouldnt say its light blue. light blue makes me think of the colour of my cigi packet, like the colour produced by fancy smoke bombs.
but this is the 'blue' colour to look for. is it this colour?
Black = petrol
White = steam
grey/blue = oil
Does it use a bit of oil? Doesnt have to be much.
I wouldnt be concerned, as o-man has said, just running rich on the high rpm changeOriginally Posted by o_man_ra23
Are you flat changing? Its just a bit of fuel that wasnt burnt properly in the tiny second between loading and unloading of the motor.
You must have seen some high power cars do this before?
Im just a little lostbut ill be fine!
Nah theres no blue smoke, and no flat changing, maybe just running a bit rich like you say.
Cool Thanks for that.
