I knew both those engines ran rich as hell
How, if you're sure this one isn't, yet has the same symptoms???????

Stop driving it like an old lady, or a twit that has to start it up every 10 minutes just to run it for a minute to 'check it out' or move from spot to spot!

It is NOT OIL, and it is very unlikely to be anything other then water & carbon. It is a sign of an abused engine that has multiple cold startups and rarely gets a chance to evaporate/cook out the condensation of combustion byproducts & bake the carbon solid.
Start & run 20 minutes& more, or DON'T start it at all!

Allen... I would say its an old exhaust with buildup... but yea, you do bring up valid points, always run your engine for a while if you are going to run it... so you keep it in good condition... and run it regularly too.

you've got a point, i start mine to move it around the yard often.

i have noticed it sometimes does it, and sometimes doesnt...

now that i think about it, the times it does it is when i havent run it for long

my money is on the condensation and carbon from inside muffler.

A cat would definately stop rich mixture exhaust spitting and reduce it to fumes.

Beyond whats already been said, if you drive your car with some spirited throttle you will be in the richer areas of your mapping more often than not. Esp when this is done at low speeds, you will get carbon on your bumper.

How often do you pull up in the left lane at a set of lights, which merges 100m up giving you no choice but to nail it and merge in front of the commonwhore in the next lane???
