    Default 7mgte Ra23 / 28

    anyone who cares,

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a RA23 / 28 with a 7MGTE installed (or is currently having one installed). I'm looking for information and can't seem to find any....

I'm looking to find information about the installation it's self. It's a project I'm considering as i have a spare 7m, but no Celica to put it in otherwise I'd size it up my self.

    any help would be tops

    cheers

Throw the 7m in the bin and get a 2j or even a cheap 1j and make it legal

    Kugs, it's to road register.

Jordan 76, I realise that J's are all good but that's not what I'm after. I've got a 7m and want information about installing one into a 23/28. Do you know of any? also I think that although the 7m might have an average reputation for some I've got a mx73 with a 7m making 170 odd kw with 5-6psi boost, that's respectable.

    Cheers

with current laws a 3ltr turbo should just scrape through engineering (will be close though) get on the blower to an engineer to confirm first, will only take a 2min call....

the only concern i can see with a 7m, will be the BLOCK/HEAD height, as they are a taller than a 1ggte,....nothing that a bonnet bulge couldnt fix....

will probably need a custom sump, as you will need to mount it so low that i wouldnt think any factory sumps would give you the clearances you would need..

its quite do-able....pick up a cheap 23/28 and start working!

    gluck!

3 ltr turbo will not pass rta regs.

current rates only allow 2.6ltr forced induction wether you go turbo / twin turbo or supercharger doesnt matter.

so on this your limited to 1J (2.5ltr) and 1G (2ltr).

    Theres a reason why no1 is doing 2J / 7M in these

on the upside RTA will pass a RB26DETT from Skyline... but try and get it in!

I own a 7M I wouldn't bother with it for a Celica there are plenty of better engines for it

If you want specific information on the conversion, have a look on classic-celica.com... I think that's what it's called... It's kinda like an american toymods. There's a few of these on there, and a couple of good writeups.

which is longer- j series or m series? cause i know that a 1j install aint exactly roomy. hell i only got about 1cm combined clearance between firewall, engine, radiator, intercooler and a 1g fits easily apparantly.
    GA23(never finished-now with cracked block ) JZX83 (Tyre eater) 3sgte AE86. by now i should know better.

    Dudes,
I've been searching all over to find people that have done a 7m into a 23/28 and no love.
but how dopie of me... at the bottom of this page there's a link to a dude here in Canberra doing a 2jzgte into a 23. Awesome!!!! I realise the m series and the J series are miles apart but I still think that the old "p00" has something... especially in a 1100kgs. That and I don't have a 1j or 2j just laying around, as I do a 7m.

    Here's the link if anyone's keen: http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7107

Ps. Whatthe?, Long live the p00. May we make it stink more than any other.

I wouldn't even consider a giant heavy lump of 7M in an old Celica, unless it's purely for drags/burnouts, because it will suck at everything else.

Also remember once you've got that giant engine in place with all the supporting bits and pieces, a transmission that will live behind it, a big diff, brake upgrades, and all the rest of it - your "lightweight" Celica will weigh almost as much as a Supra. There's a reason Supras weigh a lot!

As mentioned above there are better engines for this car. The 1G has been done many times with great success and will make more power than you can actually use in a street Celica. It also fits a whole lot easier!
