So... you like the liberty scoops, what sort of advice are you after? Get the liberty scoop? Don't get the liberty scoop? Unless you find something soon to rival it, go with what you like.
Check out the AE101 scoop, it's more subtle than the ae92, or a late model hilux (few yrs old?) have a well blended scoop i think?
What's the greatest concern here? How it looks or how it works?

think about a scoop that lets air into the cooler.. and out of the engine baynot just a single function..

Get a nice squarish looking scoop that will suit the boxy looking AE82.
Perhaps a scoop in the middle and a couple of good looking vents to the sides for heat escape (not xr8 ones, ew)

I still think a scoop would be better for the top mount than no scoop at all. Not all, but a good amount of hot air would be sucked underneath the floorpans whilst moving if only bonnet scoop was fitted.Originally Posted by oldcorollas
what i was referring to, was some of toyotas hood scoops have two functions.
there is a divider that runs from the back of the intercooler, to just before the front of the scoop (but with a gap to the very front of the scoop). it is positioned such that direct airflow into the scoop will mostly go through the intercooler.
when you are stationary, air is allowed to come from the engine bay behind the intercooler (ie, behind the divider), up between the divider and the top of the scoop, and allowed to escape from the scoop... so that when you are stationary, hot air escapes from the engine bay, but NOT by going through the intercooler, so the heat soak into the intercooler is reduced..
that explanation make more sense?

i see what your getting at. makes perfect sense. I still, however, believe that a 1 way (IN) scoop would be better than no scoop at all. cheers.
