    Default Aftermarket seats Ra23

Ok car is going to be back on the road by next week and I wanted to ditch the seats that are in it. Dont know what they are but they sit a little too high as i am not a small person.
I have heard that legally you are not supposed weld your seats to the rails. Anyone know of any aftermarket seats or even some cushy hugging seats out of another car that will bolt up to the factory rails? Easy fitment, not too hard to come by?

the R32 seats sit WAY to high, im 6ft, 120kgs, and i hit the roof, have to have the seat back a bit,

i made the OBX bucket seat to sit low to the floor, now i have heaps of head room, and when i do track days....the helmet doesnt hit the roof either now....

i highly recomend it, as there cheap and better than a factory seat...

I'm about to try and attempt fitting sw20 seats to my ra28.

Pulled the passenger seat out the other night to see what modifications I had to do and to check height and width etc. Seems to be the perfect width with some modifying needed to be done to the mounting tabs.

Height wise without serious modification they seem to be just a smidge higher than the original seats. I'd say sitting in a comfortable position I have nearly an inch before my head is butted up against the roof (rough measurement without actually fitting the seats properly). I'm 6"1' as well.

I've owned a sw20 and loved these seats ever since. Very adjustable ie lumber and kidney as well as base angle/height on the drivers side.

After saying all that though one of those fixed back bucket seats does look inviting but I don't think I could handle the 4 hour drives in one. I certainly couldn't in my last car.

TA-022 - Either keep an eye out on for sale section of the mr2 forums

    http://slender.mine.nu/mr2/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=11

Or post an ad in the wanted to buy section. Thats where I got mine. Picked them up for $90 for both. Bargain because they are in mint condition

All failing that check with the importers. They usually have them. My mate picked his ones up from an importer for $350

Jordan 76 - See picture of them below. They aren't my seats but just an image i've used from the mr2 forums. They were for sale back awhile ago. The seller was chasing $250 or so. Also not there are two types of seats in the picture. The fabric ones which come in the GTSs and the leather trim ones which come in the GTs. If your a leather nut you can always hang out till you find some out of a Aus delivered GT which are full leather

    Cheers

Jordy, I putting new SAAS GT's in from Autobarn $800 a pair which is cheap! Using custom made brackets they will bolt into standard mount points on both sides. Seats will have QLD transport MOD plate. I can post you a pic when they are fitted next week. I'm fix mounting them and not using the supplied runners as I'm 6.3 and the runners put my head to close to the roof. There are heaps of seast out there but for value for money the SAAS look the part.

Heres the ones I'm talking about

Seats are installed mate, the custom brackets didn't work. I ended up taking the car to KCF Rallysport and having them fitted by Keith. It was expensive with the mod plate etc but the job is done. I will remove the rails to get more head room as I'm tall. I have moved back to Tassy. Good luck
