Default Carburettor Repair(?) First gen celica...

    Hi, first post.. be nice

Just looking at an ad for a '76 Celica

    The ad states:

"...Currently not running, (carborator needs repairing, repair kit included)..."

The words, repair kit got me thinking; How hard is this to do? Now, I know basically nothing about cars (slowly learning ) but I have a few people around me that a fairly competent with engine's and such, but not like they're mechanic's or anything.

So my question is: How difficult is this to do? Is it possible to do by my self(given my limited knowledge), and if not, Is it expensive to get fixed at a mechanic?

Basically just asking 'cause this is a pretty damn cheap celica, and I don't have that much money, so it'd be awesome to get one...

    p.s.
Hope this isn't too much of a noob Q, and hope its the right section.

    Cheers,
    Merlin.

If you get the workshop manual and follow the sets i cant see anyone making a mistake, they make it very clear.
    Its not difficult at all.

Usually, a decent condition 2nd hand carby is cheaper than a rebuild kit.
And ill bet that its got a heap more problems, carby's rarely cause a car to completely "not go".

    just a piece of advice:

when looking at one of these old cars, look at the body first. rust repairs is what is going to cost you most if you want to keep your car for a long time. engines can be fixed relatively cheaply, as replacement motors themselves can be had for fairly cheap. Getting an engine going yourself is also a good learning experience and not all that difficult. Good body repairs that will last a long time, however, is much more difficult IMO and will most likely be very expensive if you want done right.
