I chose against running a borgwarner because of the limited ratio's. But maybe this isn't such an issue for the 3t if it's going to be fairly torquey, or if you dont want to run tall slicks at the drags etc.
It would be good to use the commo diff housing and axles you already have (28 spline axles) and just have it shortened to suit, fitted with 4.11 gears and also re-drilled to 4x114.3 and fitted with r31 disc brakes, which are the correct stud pattern.
You can also fit r31 disc brakes to a hilux diff without much hassle though, read the latest zoom magazine (or maybe the one before that..)
    cheers

Having done both, I can suggest Hilux well and truly over Bogwarmer.

This man speaks the truth. Hilux or R31(Borg warner) all have their pros and cons.

What do you gain with a Commodore bogwarmer as opposed to Skyline bogwarmer??

Early Hilux diff is much easier to fit, you can change the stud pattern if you want to, although I'd suggest changing the front to 5x114.3 as well. Plus you've got a better choice of centres for a Hilux diff - bogwarmer LSDs are complete crap, and the only good aftermarket LSD (apart from spools, lockers, etc.) is a KAAZ, which is quite pricey. Oh yeah, plus Bogwarmers are always noisy! Think taxi whine...

Look for early Hilux - I THINK RN27 and the one after. You'll know it's the right one when you measure the width. I THINK the leaf spring mounts come pretty close to the old school Corolla ones - ask emp? on these forums as he's done this swap before.

Then you can go centre shopping - get rid of the 4.8 2 pinion open diff, and get a 4.1 LSD into there. Try to raid the pumpkin from MX83 Cressida Grande, Z20 Soarer, A70 Supra, most 4WD Hiluxes, or anything with a Toyota G LSD. Look around and you should be able to find 4.1 (or whatever ratio you want) gears to match, either new or used. The standard LSD can take a moderate amount of abuse if it's pulled apart, checked and shimmed up a lot tighter than standard - make sure you emphasise this to your diff shop if you're not putting the centre together yourself. Being a 4WD fitment, you can also get a variety of aftermarket centres - torsen, clutch, air lockers, mini and full spools, take your pick! Make sure you use good oil in it (I've had good results with that blue, sticky Penrite stuff, but others may suggest something different)

Sorry I can't help with any contacts in Sydney as I'm lucky enough not to live there

I only suggested he use a commo borgwarner, because in his first post it says he already has one sitting around...
Ill be interested to see what brakes etc. you end up running. Im trying to sort out the same problems as you. It's hard to get a setup to do everything.

Good luck finding a early model one, i had a bitch of a time. Rang most 4wd wreckers around Western sydney and not one had one, let alone knew WTF I was talking about.

Other option is any hilux diff with 5 stud. Not the crazy 10 stud or whatever it is. Then cut her cut down and resplined.
