i've thought about this a few times
Hi,
Just a quick one for the powers that be...
Is there any way to set up a facility to give +ve rep to people who PM with useful information? I've had a few people PM me in regards to some threads I've started with very useful info and contacts for parts I'm chasing down, but since they didnt post in my thread there isn't any way of rewarding them bar giving them +ve rep in an unrelated thread.
This in turn could conceivably be seen as abusing the system (giving rep for something in an unrelated thread I mean) and I don't want to go down that road.
Is this possible and/or desirable? Opinions?

maybe find one of their posts (view profile -> show all posts by user) and give them rep there. just leave a comment that corresponds with the PM.
hello
OK, for those who didnt read my initial post, I was asking if there is a way to +ve rep people who have helped me out via PM without resorting to repping them other unrelated posts

That's a good idea. But unfortunately the functionality doesn't exist.
It might also be open to abuse since admins and mods can't see PMs.

on the topic of PM's.. is it possible to increase/decrease the amount of PM storage allowed for users based on reputation / club membership?
i think a 50 PM allocation (sent + inbox) is a bit exorberent for new members. Perhaps giving out say 20 PM's as an allocation if they have under 20 Rep.. 50 PM's if they have 20-50 and scale it from there.. say when they hit 50 rep (and obtain new priveleges) the amount of PM's allowed doubles or something, same with 100.. right up till say 200 PM storage (which i cant see anyone maxxing out anytime soon).
all of this based on rep / club member status.. is this possible? it would probably balance out the storage space anyway because theres always goin to be a larger population of users who are under 20 rep because theyre occasional posters, so 50 PM storage is a bit exorberent for them.. and it could be reallocated to regulars via the rep + club membership system somehow..
thoughts?

I rarely bother clicking on the exact post a person deserves credit for... I'll read to the end of a thread, scroll up to their last post, and leave a rep comment that explains it. I'm sure people would get the idea if you did it a similar way for PMs (I know it's not ideal, but it is a workable solution)
