Hi,
I'm not extremely technical but I've had an experience that sounds similar to this, but slightly different. The symptoms you've described sound similar to the way my problem started out and then progressively got worse. My 4ac would cut out under throttle, and it was more predominant when putting the most strain on low revs, and in high revs above about 4k. It turned out i had picked up bodgy fuel and it had clogged up my fuel filter, and after not long my jets as well.
Like I said similar but different. it's probably not this but worth a check anyway. Best of luck with it.
Just for a Quick update...
So i did end up changing the points, condensor, carby and coil.
Nothing worked until i changed the coil.
Then i checked the connection on the ballast resistor and one was ever so slightly loose.
Loose at the point where the temp changes in the engine bay would have expanded and contracted the join on the connectro onto the ballast resistor. I got about 1/8th of a turn out of the nut and the problems have gone!
Thanks for the helps guys,
Jeremy
