i found the leaking with my oil return line was using rubber hose that wasn't fuel/oil resistent.
It would just weep out, and slowly leak oil everywhere.
Going to proper fuel hose fixed this.
I have a braided line that is 18mm ID and 22mm OD. This is my turbo oil return line. It currently uses an Earls fancy hose clamp on a modded sump fitting. No matter what I do to it it still leaks? it isn't even under pressure so I thought that I will bite the bullet and get a proper fitting put on there. I saw that Earls do a 45deg fittingto suit. 804610ERL is the part number. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku for a -10AN fitting.AN sizes range from -2 (dash two) to -32 in irregular steps, with each step equating to the OD (outside diameter) of the tubing in 1/16" increments. Therefore, a -8 AN size would be equal to 1/2" OD tube (8 x 1/16 = 1/2). However, this system does not specify the ID (inside diameter) of the tubing because the tube wall can vary in thickness. Each AN size also uses its own standard thread size.

So I was going to get the sump fitting threaded to suit that fitting and then get the size required for the pipe. Issue is that the pipe is 22mm OD which is basically 7/8". It says that AN goes from -12 to -16 so what fitting can I get to make this work?
Any other suggestions for stopping this bastard from leaking?

definitely the fitting as the hose is completely dry but the sump fitting at the bottom is always wet. When I bought the line I told them it was for oil.
I've had problems with just getting a fitting threaded and trying to screw on an earls type fitting. the important bit is to get the taper on the end of the fitting right (so the taper on the male fitting matches the earls female one). It might be worth buying a male fitting to suit the earls one you buy and then weld this into your sump in place of the old one.
Alternatively, does the one on there currently have a decent flare on it?
It has about 3cm of area for the hose to go over.
Good idea re the other male thread to weld on. That will be easiest I think.
Going to ring speedflow. I saw on site that they do 7/8" fittings but it says JIC. I don't think it matters if I get a male one to suit anyway.
Speedflow do what you need, Part no would be 102-12 for the hose end and then you need a -12 steel weld on to suit..

braided hose sizes vary depending the manufacturer & the application.
working with speedflow fittings -
12mm = -8 jic
if the sump oil return is factory toyota it will be metric - most likely m12, so you need a metric to jic adaptor - prob 731-08.
fitting to suit your hose, at 45deg would be a 102-08
does that make sence to you? or have i confused you even more?

I got the 102-12 off Forcefed6 on the weekend. The sump fitting has already been modded to suit a hose clamp. That will be removed. So I got the -12 socket to weld to the sump and the 45deg 102-12 for the 18mm ID and 22mm OD hose. Although the part that goes over the hose appears to be too small unless I was to take the braided coating off the lines. Hmm... Haven't checked the ID yet.

-12 braided hose is just under 18mm id - you said above you had that size, so (where did i get 12mm from?) so 100 series hose ends should fit without removing the braid (you have to know how to fit them)

ok, do you have any tips for fitting them then? I might google it.
I use a vice and hold the lower half in it with the braided hose in it and then push down on the other half of the fitting( the one with the barb) so that it screws into the lower half, its hard to catch the thread but once you do just tighten it up. (hope that makes sence)
