    my missus just reminded me
be careful when welding in your car.
keep water or an extinguisher nearby
i set a VH wagon on fire (behind fusebox) by welding panels

Good info Grega... the gasless wire came with the mig and Im not getting a gas bottle till I move into my house (end of april ish)... see my sig for the house. Was just saying the welds were pretty decent for gasless. I have used an SIP migmate 150 before, and the Transmig 165 just poos on it in every single way.

thanks for making my poor migmate feel bad about itself owen
I am at the stage of determining if it is the welder, the wire or the person holding the gun connected to the welder that is the problem with the shitty welds.
so far i blame myself for 70 percent of it,
When i can remove myself as the issue, i will then reconsider another proper welder.
but next on the list as stated already is the gas to see if that improves my woefully crap welds
yeah and another tip, make sure you use proper protective glasses when using a grinder in connection with the welder. I just had to go see an optometrist today about a 'rust spot' in my eye from yesterday's grinding. he has referred me to a specialist to see if they can remove it, it is as annoying as hell

If you want to try gas out and don't want to get into the whole bottle rental thing, the rumour is that some Repco stores do small disposable gas cyls.

The wire feed is the biggest problem with those welders. Try using somebody else's welder which is a better unit, and see if that makes a difference.

those small disposable cylinders are crap, $25-30 each and they dont last long. Doesnt take too long for bottle rental to become cheap. Plus the disposables dont have output pressure control.

i was wondering what migshield M1 consists of, hoping someone would know i checked air liquides site and couldnt find

    xx% argon, xx%CO2?

im pondering the ability to do stainless with a mig using the gas ive got. if its above 10% CO2 i wont bother but if its lower ill give it a shot see how it goes
