    Default TA63 boost spike problem

Hey, i recently purchased a turbo smart dual stage boost controller and fit it to my TA63 celica. I'm having a bit of a problem tho. For some reason every time i boost it spikes with out fail. A friend said that these boost controllers are known to spike heaps, however is heaps all the time? When i run boost without it i boost fine. Is it simply that the product is faulty?

do you have a long vac line between the gate and turbo or something like that, the longer the hose the more inacurate/ harder it will be to control the boost.

i doubt that the product is faulty after all its just letting boost out, if it was an ebc then theres the possibility that it could be faulty

yeah hose was quite long. Anyway i shortened it. Can't test it just yet in the middle of relocating the battery to the boot. I also think the fuel get cut off when boosting would the computer do this?

yeah, ECU is designed to cut fuel in the event of boosting over a certain amount, called boost cut.

Im guessing your running a 3TGTE?

a boost spike is fairly normal with a simple bleed valve controller.

its just a spring and valve really.
if it was electronically controlled it would be a little different.

Hey not actually $84,000 a year. It's contract work, hard to explain involves various jobs. Step dad runs his own business. I only work during skool holidays. about 4 months a year. Celicas an import comes stock with the engine. Just bought an RA60 with 3tgte conversion aswell. It had a few bits and pieces my 3t was missing. Thought it was a bargain for $1350, came with heaps pf other stuff too. Just pulled off the 3in exhaust (I hate rusted bolts), the intercooler and piping, battery successfully relocated to boot, next is to put zhorst and intercooler on. Then ECU and forgies with T28, money is real close now only few days.

Also it says its only clocked 90,000k's. I don't know how believable this is though since it did come from japan. However she runs great. Very minor rust, next payday shes going in for a respray.
