I know you can get a innovative motorsport controller for a similar figure but the achivement of doing it your self, would be great to go with your megasquirt!!
What are peoples opinions of the DIY kits available, cost is good, and the specs look pretty good

you can get an innovate controller and sensor cheaper than a tech edge unit... if you're willing to forgo the mostly-pointless AFR meters...

But building it yourself is v.good - and techedge are local so you get a bit more than a public forum for technical support.

I just wanted a cheaper solution so i got an innovte kit (plus some other Msefi hardware) from DIYautotune in the USA.

I got my self a 2E0 tech edge unit, integrated controller and display. IMO the best value product they had at the time of my purchase, the only downer of the 2EO is the lack of internal logging ( u can run the output to a laptop and log though).

Ive only had it on my MR2 with the factory ECU so far but its very cool and works as advertised. I got my kit and sensor for just over $300.

I'm happy with it I haven't got my 20v in my race car yet though so haven't got to use it for tuning yet :/

I'm currently over boring & installing hot cams into my motorbike, I've been considering taping it to the handle bars somehow to tune the jetting. Not sure if ill do that though

I bought a 2A0 off these forums way back, and its been the best bang for buck mod done to the car so far.

Ability to tune just about every situation on the road has saved money in terms of dyno time. And the ability to tune the cruise has saved me half a tank of fuel a week. Which is a big plus in my books. (and thats with the 'lowly' microtech.... getting just under 9km/l for a 2.7Litre 4 cylinder turbo, full cruise is in the 11's)

When i took the car to the dyno, the AFR's were smack on the money everywhere, he just cleaned up a few hard to tune points and timing and gave it back.

I bought an innovate LC-1, i run it combined with my Megasquirt-II. No need for wanky AFR gauges... you can build a $70 jaycar kit to do that with the 2nd programmable output of the LC-1.... if you wanted it.

Damn good price, damn good piece of gear. The size alone is what did it for me.... about as big as a mobile phone!!!

you can re-program the 2nd output to any voltage scale (within reason) that you want.By default the LC1 has two outputs configued as:
#1 simulates 0-1V narrowband sensor
#2 0-5V windband sensor 0.5 to 1.5 lambda

only thing it wont do is a non-linear curve.

That is the same unit i use with the TechEdge, except its been rebranded and modified for a 0-5V signal.

Hmm that innovative setup looks tempting, but i dunno the fact of being able to tell people you did it your self....
ALOT of people maintain my incompitence, i need to prove them wrong

yer i bought the inovative kit cost me an arm and a leg but im no good with electronics. so easier for me , nice big guage with led's and a digital readout.... between 550-600 is the full kit with the guage, heaps steep but allows me to tune, log , and display all the shit.

you can buy it off the us ebay for cheaper, or a haltech dealer sells the inovative kit but rebadged with haltech stickers on it for cheaper than buying it from inovative, i dont know how that works but yer.

i bought my innovate LC1 from buzzengines for about $270 (was a while ago now)

works great just gotta get something together to log the AFR's along with MAP and RPM now

takai: only thing with those guages is knowing if it's a linear response guage. A normal narrow-band O2 sensor isn't linear 10:1 - 20:1 for 0-1V, it's primary purpose is to provide a crossing point at about 0.5V for stoich mixtures. If the guage has been designed with that in mind, 0.25V isn't going to be 12.5:1 and 0.75V isn't going to be 17.5:1 AFRs.
