Default ae86 lsd in T series diff

howdy every1, just wondering if you can put an ae86 diff center in a T series housing, my understanding is the centers
are the same but the "S" series has smaller axles-is this correct or am i off the planet?
    (lotsa ae86 lsd's floating around)
thanks,i know this info is on here somewhere but ive had a big search and there are just too many articles on diffs for me to find the info i need.

No, if you have an LSD, it will suit a T series diff. No LSDs (that I have ever heard of) were available for S series.

So your LSD centre will fit any T series diff. However T series diffs were available with 2 axle sizes - small (early AE86 and all other Celicas, Coronas etc) and big (late AE86 only).

Incidentally, S and small T axle splines are the same, but irrelevant here. S and T series diffs are in no way compatible, either axle-wise or centre-wise.

Easiest way to tell the difference, S is 8 bolt and T is 10 bolt centre.

    No S series LSDs
Zenki have a smaller axel kouki have a bigger axel,
there is a hiace axel or somthing that can be used with koukis
The 2 pinion im not sure of may have come from a GTS SR5 corolla

Personly I wouldnt buy a clutched/plated LSD for anything more than 500 as i would want to strip it and check out whats inside regards to spacers and plates and also the ramp angle, i would be stting it without spacers and more plates lower ramp angle and a high breakaway,

A mechanical LSD can feel very clunky and you need to keep the power on constantly around a corner as they engange and disengage whcch gives you a awkward clunk in the rear and can upset the balance

OC - Yes, both Zenki and Kouki are types of T series diffs. They have the same crown and pinion, housing and centre, except that the Kouki axle splines and axle diameter are slightly larger.

The AE86 factory 2 pinion LSD was a T series. I've never heard of or seen any LSD for an S series diff. Also the only vehicle I know of to sport an S series are povo-spec AE86s.

Also T series LSDs centres should go for 500(good 2nd hand) - 1500(brand new Kaaz, OS Giken etc...)

From what i've read, in low power applications they are very good. The idea of torque sensing rather than reacting to slip also appeals to me.

    Why? Whats wrong with them?
