    Question 7m and high boost

Hi , just curious if anyone has had their 7m block o-ringed with head studs and metal gaskets in the war against BHG's ? With a purpose built engine including forged rods and pistons and balanced bottom end i am wondering with decent boost would some reliability be obtained ? I was considering swapping to a 2j with a single . As i have already had the A340 rebuilt with a shift kit & i wasn't sure if it would mate to the 2j . The car is an mx83 .

get a JZ bell housing and off you go!. We have a 1JZ A340 with stallie going behind a 7mgte, so no reason why it shouldn't work the other way.

Everything else breaks too quickly to get any real idea.

I just assumed that o-ringing the block would allow the gasket seal better between the two surfaces. Not sure of the cost compared to surface grind . I was hoping to rebuild properly rather than another conversion and rebuild . But if reliability is still an issue then there is not much point. I was aiming for a minimum of 400+ hp.

If you build it with the right parts and do everything correctly it should last.

That starts with a straight block and head. If the head has already warped once find another one. Maybe even order a new one from toyota if you are going all out.

Occasionally you see a few purpose built engines so there must be some viability . It would also be good to silence the non beleivers. Cheers !

I think if the non believers were going to be silenced, Rigoli's 9 second R32 and the 500+ RWKW MA70 from down south would have done it by now.

Anyone with a brain knows you can make serious power with a 7M. The question is why would you when it's easier and more reliable to do it with a better base engine?

For clarification, my comment early in this thread was directed solely at dong's car and it's tendency to spend more time off the road than on, and not in any way at the 7M, his or in general.

Just realised that as this thread progressed it seemed a bit unclear, and i tend to avoid wading into 1J vs 7M discussions.
