    Default afterarket ecu and 7m CPS quastion

    hi guys im trying to wire up a ems 8860 ecu on a 7m soarer...

    can u please tell me HOW THE HELL TO HOOK UP THE CPS!! its driving me mad

    The cps has 4 wires leaving from it

    black G
    blue Ne+
    yellow G2+
    red G1+

    now from my understanding the 7m cps is a magnetic/reluctant sensor and doesnt require any power input (correct me if im wrong)


    on the ems harness within the shielded cable ive got

    black - earth
    yellow - sync
    green - trigger
    red - 8 volt supply - WHICH I PRESUME I DONT NEED


    now ive read up on cygnus that " the g1 and g2 pickups produce signals near TDC compression stroke for cylinders #6 and #1 respectively"

    if anyone knows exactly what to wire up to where id gtreatly appreciate it

    Lookng at that i would hook:

    Black - black (grounds)
    Red- red (positives)
    yellow-yellow ( which i think are the sync)
    Blue - green ( signal )

    Ill have a look at the way mine is wired on my 4a tomorrow if i gat time.

    Im pretty sure about the positive and ground. is the ECU up to the working stage?
    IE can you get a reading from the ecu handset or laptop ?

    If you hook it up like i have it above it should give you a cranking rpm. If not try swapping the sync and signal wires around and then try it again.

    black G- is your ground
    blue Ne+ is your trigger
    yellow G2 would be the sync pulse

    G1 shouldn't be needed

    G- is Ground - Black on EMS
    NE is Trigger - Green on EMS
    G2 is Sync - Yellow on EMS

    I've added some pics from the 8860 manual and from autoshop 101 tech articles.






    Yes your correct, the reluctor system does not require power, it generates it own power (the variable voltage it produces is the actual signal)
