    Default 1G-GZE to 1G-GTE

Ok all I have a 1G-GZE less supercharger and ECU.What I need to know is can I use all the necessary gear to convert this to a 1G-GTE?
    Cheers Brett.

Its been done heaps before. Cause ze has lower compression people favour it for more boost. But they tend to go ze with oil squirters... What gen is yours? Does it have oil squirters?

I dont think the physical side of the swap would be hard-just swap over manifolds and turbos from a 1gte but running it would probally be a pain in the arse as gze/gte use different ignition systems. the 1ggte computer couldnt handle the spark on your motor, and the 1ggze puter wouldn't be mapped for the variable boost with the turbos?
probally easiest way would be just get a haltech/motec or summin

Not sure on Gen at the moment. As to oil squirters have no idea if it has.Where do I look for these?I say it is an early donk as it still has the original plug leads which have 1986 written on them.
    Cheers Brett.

Yeah I have been thinking of this but I will probably take the CAS and coil packs off and run the GTE dizzy and ECU when I can aquire these bits for the conversion.Just want to stick with the factory gear to start with then will go that next step further once I get it all sorted and running as I have no idea what condition the GZE is in.
    Cheers Brett.

i think running the GZE computer should be fine.

the only boost variable I can think of is ignition and fuel pressure reference.
ignition is computer controll and should adjust accoring to AFR and boost levels.

And the fuel pressure seems on the 1G to be reference straight from the intake manifold.
So all you would do is swap a 1GGTE regulator on and give it a vaccum line like on the 1GGTE and it should be fine.

Talk to ForceFed6 and 6BOOST on here as I think they both run GZ with GT gear. They run aftermarket ecu's but may well know the std ecu's characteristics.

Your GZE would be a Gen 1. If you have the ECU and assuming you have a complete loom, why not just buy a blower for $300? Assuming you really do want to do this then the main problem is that the heads are different so you can't bolt the turbo oil feeds to the 1GGZE head. Also, the price for a complete 1GGTE loom, dizzy, ecu and coil pack are not cheap and sometimes work out to nearly as much as a 1GGTE package. That being the case you are better to retain the CAS and GZE coils and run aftermarket.

Thanks for clearing up what Gen the eng is.I don't have an ECU and the loom has been cut so I don't know what part of the loom I'm missing(have all engine wiring to injectors, sensors, coil packs etc).I don't have AFM either. As to the oil feed I'd say I should be able to use a T section where the oil sender is?I do have the chance of aquiring a complete GTE that has stuffed a piston but I'm waiting on confirmation on when I can go and view this engine so I can see if I will need more items for the conversion.
More info would be very appreciated or if anyone have parts for sale also.
    Cheers Brett.

If the GTE just has a stuffed piston, then take the GTE head too... Just use the GZE block.
    meh...

Until I have seen this GTE in person then I can't pass judgement on the condition of the head.As it is I have no idea what the GZE is like but as I know from the previous owner it was imported in to him a number of years ago and it sat round for that period of time till I aquired it without him doing anything with it except covering up all open areas and sprayin the bores with crc.The GTE is suposed to be in pieces but everything is there to swap onto my GZE.
If I use the GTE head then the problem is trying to source the necessary gaskets cheaply and locally.
    Cheers Brett.

Thanks Jase I will definitely keep you in mind cause I know that I will need quite a few things if this other engine falls through.
    Cheers Brett.

What are the differences if any to the GTE and GZE ECU's?

Well I have got the GTE but it is going to take to much work to do what I was intending on doing so it has come down to using the GZE I have.
I will buy a supercharger for it but as I stated in the last post can a GTE ECU be used on a GZE?
    Cheers Brett.
