you have to give a dab of seal packing aka toyota goo in the corners where the cover goes over the bearing caps. Other than that, just make sure everything is as clean and dry as you can get it before you button it all together.

Im a mechanical newb, and im going to change the rocker cover gasket on my 4age. Is there anything I need to know of, or be careful of other than
- undo
- gasket off
- gasket on
- do-up?

The gasket has rubber where it goes over bearing caps, ive changed about 3 of them with no goo and they havent leaked. If anything they tend to seep a little oil on the front above the headers and on the gearbox face side of engine.
Also you might wanna but some of the cam cover nut washers. Theyre a metal/rubber combo - you could use your old ones but if your gasket was dead then these will be too once you take them off. You'll see what i mean when you take the cover off but you could always use yours for the meantime - they shouldnt be too bad if your careful taking them off.
