    Default 20V cyclone affected

    hey all
i live up in port hedland west aus and weve just copped a category 4 cyclone. slightly hectic
the only place i have to keep my motor is under the car port but with the winds we had a lot of water was blown in under it. i had the motor wrapped in a car cover which i thought was waterproof but its not and i belive some water may have gotten into the motor.

im really not keen on having this water stuff my new motor so is there anything i can do to sort of stop rustion of the bores etc? i have turned the motor upsidedown and a lil bit came out of the intakes.

ive already spayed wd40 down the throttle bodies.

so yeah does anyone know the best way to stop bores rusting.

    cheers

you can always pull the plugs and put some oil down there, works well enough

    pull plugs
    spray in loads of WD40
    oil it up
turn it over a few times
also could be worth spraying some WD40 down the intake ports

Yeah id pull the plugs out pour a decent amount of oil in the bores and turn it over a 10 or so time with the plugs out to ensure that the oil lubricates the bores properly.

The majority of the oil will seep past the rings over time(couple of days) but there will be some excess left over. You wil either need to tip the engine over if there is still quite a bit sitting ontop of the pistons or use a air compressors to disperse the excess.

Do you have a air compressor or access to one ???

WD in the ports will also be useful like merc says

The Best way is to start it up and give it some revs!
If it is out of car you need to get a 4A-FC carb type dizzy and run it on a coke bottle and vac hose into the small vac port on the rear of the fuel rail.

sorry i should have stated the motor is bolted to an engine stand. ive already done oil down the intakes n turned it over by hand and then wd40 down the intakes. i tried getting the plugs out last night but i need a deeper plug socket. damn cheap kits. cheers for all the replies guys it looks like im on the right track.

    maybe:
dump existing oil (check for water/salt)
squirt of oil down into the bores & in intakes
fill the crankcase right to the top with desiel fuel
crank till you feel confident that it's splattered oil everywhere
dump the desiel and allow to drain well
refill with good oil and re-crank
