Hiace axles ok to use?

Is this axle ok to use?

background: just bought a Hiace 4.6:1 CIG locked diff to suit an xt130 corona with the intention of fitting taller gears in it (3.9's from a cressida). Pulled the centre out today and the right one was VERY hard to get out.




Is this right axle ok to use? Or should I get another one?

It seems to me that maybe the weld was too close to the splines and the end of the axle has rubbed against it somehow.

It certainly doesn't look to have weakened it. I'd just clean it up and wack it back in.

It wil be OK as the very end of the axel does not make contact with the corresponding spline in the diff centre. It passes through it by a small amout (6mm?) as you can see from the wear marks on the axel spines in the top pic (no wear marks on the last 6mm or so). Clean it up with a small file so it doesn't interfere (read damage) the diff centre splines when you slide the axel back in, and it will work ok.
