    If the edge of the windage tray gets a small amount of damage, just gently flatten it with a hammer. The sealant should take up any small clearances left.

    It's always a good idea to check the sump against a straight edge or known flat surface to make sure the sealing surface doesn't have any major deviations from previous screwdriver removal methods etc.

    yup i would have tried this alas the motor was in the car and was very awkward to get anything in there
