12R compatible with 18R gearbox?

What model Toyota is the 12R in?
What gearbox has it got?

Does the gearbox have a detachable bellhousing?
Is the slave cylinder bolted to the gearbox itself or on the bellhousing?

Bit more info:

Transmission Code: LN42

Starter bolts to block and looks like block forms part of bellhousing
couldn't see the clutch this morning all the shifter arms for the column shift were in the way.

Well I dont think that in the case of my 12R/LN42 that a w series box would bolt up.

There is like an inch or so of iron behind where the starter motor bolts in, doesn't back into the bellhousing like the 18R/w50

Oh well, ddeane has offered an 18RC at a price that cannot be beaten!
