    Default Alloy Refinishing

    Hi,

I have an alloy bull bar which is structually perfect but tarnished and dirty.
What process should I look at to get it looking all polished up and good.
Needn't be mirror finish or anything.

    Maybe mild abrasive blasting?
    Or acid dip it?
Or give it to a metal polishing place?

    CBF doing it myself.

Alloy wheel cleaner, a scotchbrite, and a good pair of gloves, followed by car polish - how shiney you want it depends on how long you want to polish!

There are 2 good cleaners that i know of. One ic called Alubrite (or something similiar) and the other I think is CT14. Repco should have both in 1 litre or 4 litres. After that polish with Autosol. I also use brakeleen while polishing with Autosol to remove the black build-up.

You could also wet rub it (1200 grit) and get all the surface dirt off if it doesnt come off with any less harsh methods then maybe go get an orbital sander and some buffing compound. For the small bits you could use a dremel type tool with a polishing piece and buffing compound.

As for taking it somewhere maybe try the place that made it or anywhere that does alloy fabrication

Bright Shine? I'm told that stuff is quite effective, no doubt similiar job to Autosol.
