Sorry a little off topic
.
I've got a second hand import 92' LX80 mark II with the 2L-T diesel engine. The engine and gearbox are on the way out, and I am thinking about doing a manual and petrol conversion on it. At the moment I am trying to get an idea of what is involved.
How hard is it to find a 7M-GE with a manual transmission that will fit without to many dramas into a LX80? The best that I have been able to find so far is a MA70 Supra half-cut with a 7M-GTE and manual transmission, would that fit?
Are there any extra complications in converting diesel to petrol?
How much conversion work would it be possible for me to do or what is a general cost to get someone to do it for me?
Cheers.

Sounds ok, I was thinking a 7M engine because thats what my trusty handbook says came in the cressida. How similar is a JZX81 to a LX80? By the X8 part I guess that they are pretty close, but close enough that all the bits would just swap over?Originally Posted by mr2gze
Excuse my ignorance, and thanks for your input.
Hi mate.
This might sound odd.... but have you considered selling the Diesel Mark II (with the engine etc. as it is) and getting an Aussie delivered Cressida? I've been having a look at what's for sale online lately and there's heaps around for fairly cheap prices too. You could then upgrade to a better petrol engine from there. Maybe the 1JZ-GTE or the 2JZ-GTE or even the 7M-GTE. (I have heard that the 2JZ is better than the 7M but haven't had anything to do with one myself)
Diesel to Petrol conversions (although difficult and fairly involved) aren't impossible.
Just thought I'd throw it out there as an idea for ya anyway.

All Wheel Driver.
2JZ-GE conversion will outdo a 7MGE in every sense; a much more sensible swap if you're not looking for something turbo (1 or 2JZGTE)
buy a manual JZX81 halfcut and 99.999999% of everything will bolt in....
